I still think about a lunch I had in the middle of a flowing creek of a river after carrying our canoes across a bit of rough terrain. The sky was so blue, it was warm but with a breeze, and I sat on a protruding rock a ways away from the group. I watched a school of tiny minnows swarm my feet that were dangling in a shallow pool of water and listened to the river and the birds.

The food was disgusting, sweaty and warm prepackaged plastic-wrap flavoured sandwiches and the saddest trail mix that had no chocolate what’ssoeverrrrr.

That was about 15 years ago and I’ve returned to different creeks and rivers, but nothing has compared to that first time. Definitely one of my favourite lunches, favourite memories, would go back 10/10 ️
