I employ others like my husband and varied friends and relatives. I just have to carry some from the rack on the porch.

That is the best way! I grew up with wood heat. Always helped cut all the wood for the family and grandparents! I was always the one splitting and loading! I had a house fire in 2009. I still occasionally use my fireplaces here but it does leave me nervous at times

I've personally helped some of the older neighbors over the years and they've returned the favor sending over grandkids, nieces and nephews, it's a good community here.

Our fireplace was converted to hold and vent the stove.

I do make an awesome hot chocolate and cookies and some fortified coffee for those of age for such things.
