Thank God... I'm tired of my wife gazing at his picture while we have sex :(

OK....I'll say it.

Who is Rick James?

Rhumb:confused:

Uh, the Super Freak himself!

He was only THE funk master back in the early 80's.

Thanks for the link. I lived in Buffalo back in the late 70s, wonder if I ever sat next to him in the 747 Lounge?

I recognized "U Can't Touch This". That was the only rap song I ever liked. Two weeks later I pretty much gave up on "music" and tuned to the "oldies" stations!

Yes. That is a great song.

I never liked R&B. I always preferred the Punk-Funk sound: Rick James, James Brown, Sly Stone, etc.

I think another good name for their style of music would be "rock 'n' soul", because it sounds like a blend of the two.

Alright you squares, it's time to get smoked
Fire up this funk and lets have a toast.

R.I.P.

Umm

"U Can't Touch This" was MC Hammer. He "sampled" Rick James riff from the song "Superfreak"

Any girls like that here? The kind I can't take home to mutha?;)

Helped Eddie Murphy with his ill fated and ill advised singing career. Remember "My girl likes to party all the time"?

If ya don't...lucky you.

Yeah, I was singing "U Can't Touch This" in my head and then thought about "Superfreak", being confused about the two...Thanks for bringing that up.

I remember the Murphy song. Terrible.
