I am stuck on the word ONLY today.
This word could have so many meanings, reasons for being, paintings in so many different ways.

Would anyone be interested in started a new STC on this?

*Looks for Tristesse *

If I only knew I could play 2.

sandspike,

STC stands for same title challenge. Echoes_s has picked the title "Only" and is asking other poets to write a poem with that title. Everyone will submit on the same day so they can all be viewed together. Echoes_s gets to pick the date, since it's her challenge.

(I won't say whether I can do it or not until I see the posting date:) )

I'm in! I kinda like the unstructured bit to the challenge, but let's face it, Same Title Challenges are like getting a classroom full of ten year olds focused. We need guidelines.

echoes_s, a couple of questions if I may:

  • Is there a style you'd like us all to try?
  • Is there a limit on length?
  • When is this due?
  • Where do we post it?
I'm waiting eagerly to hear, I've already got mine started :p

We'll give everyone two weeks and make the submission day April 12th, The title is to be Only
Anything goes as far as style, length and
seeing as it's on my review day so not to add burden to anyone's else...
post it on the regular poetry site  :rose:

I think I'll have a go at it. It's a nice title, it can turn a poem in just about any direction.

ps. What happened to the Zodiac poems? Lost in the milky way?

okay I am in damn these things are difficult

anything to postpone this damn earth day story that will not leave my brain no matter how much my fingers tap

Homer, why not put out a stc OF "stc"
I have a thing or two I would like to say about stc's
think it would be a hoot

Okay, I'm in this Only STC only, since I haven't been productive lately—too lazy lookin' at them white walls for a month or so...

Who knows, it might even slap my muse around some.

LoL Ok, after this one...

the other thing about writers block, I don't want to tackle it, school and sleep all at the same time :) So, one poem at'a time here.

Only one small clarification....

Do you mean literally submit on the 12th, such that they show up for reading on the 13th ?

 I'm an early bird... I'd left a note, asking for the poem to show up with the others on the challenge, I think I screwed up on the dates though. Oh well.

And I'm late, so I'll post it here. :)

Only (A Cinquain Chain)

Only
here as the heart
holds a house once alive,
now tenuous memory threads
lonely

in time
like a river,
receding from my shores,
but flowing to an unknown sea
sublime,

where peace,
joining these ghosts,
awaiting the sister,
a daughter lives with their quiet
increase.

OH BOY!

cinquain
just what I need
flowing, lilting, free verse
a form to make me take notice
five lines

A link to Poetry in Forms Series: Cinquain at the Writer's Resource Center. I don't know what I'd do without ya Ang.

To all who took the time to read and comment: Thank you all so much for your wonderful comments on my version of Only

Like I said, I've got Lewis Turco's The Book of Forms, and I ain't afraid to use it. Have poem, will travel. :D
