Basic list, I know but then there are so many colours and people with bad taste who may have painted it more than one colour that it would be impossible to get it precise.

Oh boy, I am all over this question, cause its the nicest thing about my house!
My very heavy solid "wood of some sort" front door is one with stained glass, and is painted a deep hunter green. Its a bitch to open and close sometimes, but its a very nice door.

Nope. Go for brown. Wood is usually brown. Unless it's been stained green. Or blue. Or sunburst. Or cherry....

It's white and I painted it myself.
