Star Ocean-esque OOC/casting call

okay, so for those who don't know Star Ocean: The Second Story or Star Ocean EX, it's a video game and anime about a 19 year old ensign in the Terran Federation who, while exploring a planet with his father and the crew of the ship his father commands, gets transported to another planet far away. there, he meets the inhabitants, and helps them fight against an evil force that is trying to destroy their planet

i propose an RP based on that

and yes, i will be playing the ensign (though the ages might have to be upped on some of the characters)

let's see...need one elfin babe with healing abilities, about 18 years old...one 25 year old Heraldic Sorceress...one very unlucky Heraldic Fencer, possessed by a twin dragon demon...one precocious 18 year old inventer...one three-eyed alien blonde bombshell with a big energy rifle...her boyfriend, one three-eyed alien archaeologist...one human pharmacist...one 18 year old prodigy when it comes to just about everything aside from combat...one master swordsman and best friend to the elfin babe...one elfin man with healing abilities and powerful offensive spells...and one redhaired elfin reporter, the last two being from a different planet than the two we start on

I think it could be cool to be the sorceress for you as long as this get's interesting sexually and isn't just another excuse for a boy's club like some of the other stuff I've seen in the realm of fantasy around here.

Let me know when it's set up. Hopefully I don't have to be too close to the character in this game you speak of since I don't know it and can kind of play it by ear and create her on my own to some degree.

That doesn't help me much. Anime doesn't exactly fit into my vision of a fantasy scenario. Can I make her up or is it a must that she fit your prototype? I'm not too interested in a preset mold where I can't be creative.

okay, I suppose I should get started.

the basic premise is as follows. a young man, the son of an admiral in the Terran Federation (humans from Earth) is on an away mission. basically, he's on the mission to protect his father, who, nearing 60, insists on being part of an exploratory search of a planet. During the course of the following events, his father reassures him, gives him a standard issue Phase Pistol, and then watches in horror and dismay as his only child gets sucked into a teleportation gate and sent whoknowswhere. When he comes to, the barren wasteland he had been in before is gone, and he's instead surrounded by the lush greenery of a tropical rain forest. While surveying his surroundings, he finds and rescues a young woman from an enraged forest creature, apparently a native of the world. In the process, however, he accidentally violates a Terran law known as the Undeveloped Planet Protection treaty by using the Phase Pistol in the young woman's defense.

this will be a directed game, of course...i'll be keeping the plot going as I see fit, but i figure you'd better know the beginning

Heraldic Fencer (optional)
unluckiest man in existence...how unlucky, you ask? while fighting a pair of dragons, he slipped up, and ended up merged with them. they now stick up over his back, and can talk through him using possession
uses twin shortswords

Pretty Lady, Big Gun, Three Eyes (optional)
a noblewoman from the planet Tetragenes, looking for her fiance, said to have disappeared in the area of space the planet occupies. she uses a large rifle that relies on a power similar to Heraldry to function

Spunky Inventor (optional)
small, hyperactive, inventive, a little crazy. need I say more?
her main weapon is a mechanical arm attached to her backpack which can punch things.

Wandering Swordmaster (optional, but hoped for)
tall, icey man from Arlia, childhood friend and surrogate brother to the young maiden. fights to protect himself, but through meeting the Ensign, realizes that that isn't true strength.

Cocky Magician/Researcher (optional)
younger man, with feline ears. He works with his mother and father to perfect the ultimate Heraldic Weapon. He is strong in magic, a capable inventor and writer, and head over heels for the Spunky Inventor
uses books as a weapon, able to bring them out with his natural abilities as a Fellpool

Older Pharmacist (optional)
Pharmacist who helps out when needed. Skilled at making medicine, and using his fists. Also married. Knuckles are his weapon of choice.

Wandering Archeologist (optional, but preferred if we get our other Tetragene)
Man from the planet Tetragenes, famous archeologist. Tends to get a bit caught up on his work, and is currently working on Expel to uncover a mystery. Uses whips with expert accuracy

Reporter, Elf Ears (optional)
A hot tempered, quick thinking reporter encountered on HER planet. Starts off following the group around as a news story, but gets caught up in the struggle they face.
good martial artist, making excellent use of stun batons

Lonely Zoologist (optional)
formerly a servant of a group known as God's Ten Wise Men, now paying pennance as the sole caretaker of the last Preserve on Nede. Skilled in magic, but able to wear heavier armor. uses claws

God's Ten Wise Men (open to anyone who knows of them or learns quickly)
Ten Nedian criminals from a time before Terrans existed. Formerly sealed inside an extradimensional prison which crashed on Expel.

i'll play if your still interested and if its ok i'll go with the young maiden, i've never seen this show before but from the pic you have posted and the information you gave it sounds interesting and i'd like to give it a chance, maybe if we can get it going more people will read along and join in.

yarr....erhm....some general NPCs that will be used after the openings: The King of Cross. the Prince of Cross (the treasure hunter has a special ending in the game on the maiden's quest that results in the prince marrying her after the game ends..the maiden is a guest at the wedding, i think (beat the game, but never got to see my endings because my disc didn't work properly). Filia (a "madwoman" encounted in the town of Clik, who tries to warn the people of impending doom, and then later on, we find out she's the daughter of the creator of the Ten Wise Men). the king of Lacour, a kingdom famous for its Tournament of Arms...the parents of the Fellpool lad...Keith, a linguist in the town of Linga. the treasure hunter's father, and the village elder of Mars...uh...i'll cover more as i think of them.

Ensign in the Terran Federation's Space Navy, serving onboard Calnus
son of Terran Federation hero, Ronixis Kenni, Commodore and captain of the Calnus.
Age: 20
Nico is a young man trying to find himself. That is, he's trying to find out who he is, and what his role in the universe is. He has long lived in the shadow of his father's reputation and great deeds, and hates it more than anything. To him, no one sees him as Nico Kenni, Ensign in the Terran Navy. They see him as The Son of Federation Hero, Ronixis Kenni. His time on Expel may yet change that, however.

Sounds interesting, since the other 2 threads I'm currently writing for seem to be stagnating. I know nothing of the setting right now, but I'll do some research. Would be interested in playing any of the men, let me know which one would add the most to the game given the current characters.

hmm...well, at the moment, we only have two. the ensign, and the maiden, who has yet to actually be named. Waiting on little sprite to post for that. the male characters are listed, with the most immediate need being the Wandering Swordsman, but we won't be meeting him for a while except in flashbacks. however, you could take up the archeologist. we meet him early on, but don't actually get introduced until later when we meet his fiancee and help her find him

I look forward to posting once i figure my character out I'll be able to post regular during the week. But as for the weekends I have nephew's so I don't know how much I can post.
