Did you spend a few days there or is this place close to where you live?


All of that color! Those shots of the hot gas fires. Some of the shapes are so clever! (the eagle, for example)

The last shot is outstanding! And that full moon in the pale blue sky...wow.


Did you have a favorite balloon? Several?

This is a yearly event here in Reno and lasts for four days. I've lived here all of my life and though I went to some of these when I was younger, I didn't get really interested until I had the chance to be on one of the chase crews. These year we took a couple with us who had never gone before. It was his birthday and though we were all up at 3:30am it was well worth it.

Because of how early one needs to be there to really enjoy it, I only go one day each year. I'm too lazy to get up that early four days in a row.

My favorite balloon was the burgandy and gray that I shot with moon close by. I'm not big on the theme balloons.

You'll note that I edited my post to include comments about your last few shots. I loved those pics too. I also love the rounded ones with the gasses burning under them in the dark...they look like christmas ornaments! :heart:


Just checked out your favorite balloon...I agree - it's gorgeous! Good color and design elements. Looks like the Christopher Radko of ornaments (expensive).

Funny you should mention that. Someone there was actually selling hot air balloon Christmas ornaments ...

Those flames, when it was still dark, were extremely popular. That's part of how some of us kept warm at 4am. :D The heat radiates for about twenty feet in every direction.

As a matter of fact everyone is invited. Maybe we can get a big Literotica banner for a balloon to contrast the religious balloons that are here every year. :rolleyes:

They're amazing! Love the sunsets, especially the one in the first batch. Absolute perfection. The moon is great too, and that bald eagle, what a brilliant balloon. It must have been a real spectacle to see all them. What camera you using?

Those are actually sunrises. We were there well before dawn. The camera is a Nikon Coolpix 8800. It was definitely a spectacle. :)

I actually couldn't stand Beavis and Butthead ... but they had their moments. :rolleyes: :D
