Oh Lou-li-lou.....

....I'm sorry to welcome you back to the boards with an early ticket home for the English team. I know the Germans suck but we'll stay in the tournament way longer than England.

Oh and need I say PENALTIES ???

:p

Yo Snoops! :D

Nah, we're gonna have an England - Germany final, and give the rest of the world a treat. The score? 4-2 to England, and one of them won't be offside this time. ;)

:p

Oh, and finally I will just say: 5-1 in Munich 5 years ago.

Children, children, don't squabble.

With the might of the gifted teams - Brazil, Argentina and the US of A - it's pretty clear which side of the Atlantic the trophy will finish up.

BIG fucking LOL!!!!

That really has given me the biggest laugh of the day... the way you casually grouped the USA in there with Brazil and Argentina.

Um... they're not even in the World Cup this year, and that's no big surprise. :D :p

(Us English take this all very seriously, while not taking it at all seriously. Gonna be unbearable for the next five weeks. ;) )

You?
Unbearable?

For five weeks?- that I can believe. :D

Remembering a line some British newspaper put out during another England-Germany World Cup.

"If by chance, the Germans defeat us at our national sport tomorrow, we may take comfort in the fact that twice in this century we have beaten them at theirs." ;)

Hey, let's not forget MEXICO. My adopted home away from home. And since my home didn't even make it..... Oh well, as soon as they let the Canadian team practice with a ball instead of a puck, we'll be there!!

Yeah well

I don't dislike them but I am questioning that nation's love affair with David Hassalhoff.

[threadjack]
Hey, Snoop! Did you ever get through that nightmare class on English phonetics?[/threadjack]

First of all, I'd address the threadjack..... Phonetics class is still underway. Will have my exams at the end of July. Keep your fingers crossed ('cause I'll need it) !

But that was so nice of you to ask.

Now, to get this thread on the right track again: THIS IS ABOUT BASKETBALL. W/o having looked at the GB or the AH, I bet there are enough World Cup threads by now.

Anyways, for all that don't know: Dirk Nowitzki is a very good German basketball player, playing in the NBA for the Dallas Mavericks who are in the finals playing the Miami Heat.

And Dirk is arguably one of the best players of the finals, probably the MVP. He's almost single-handedly taken his Mavs to the finals.

Now they are 1-0 up and hopefully will make it 2-0 before they travel to Miami for game three.
