All right, there are a few tracks on my playlist that would be great mood music for romancing or making love. But with all of these audiophiles out there, I'm SURE you all have some incredible suggestions that can warm up the night, and open up two partners (or more, I guess -- would the music be different?) to a good night.

Help the lovers (of music) find what they are looking for by giving Artist / Album / Track, and adding a "heat factor" to those you offer. It's all subjective, of course, but will get us closer -- and give an idea of what (for you) is cool and what (for you) is hotter:
  1. making a mood
  2. warming up the room
  3. room getting a bit too warm for all these clothes
  4. exploring the groove
  5. taking off...!
  6. touching down...

Here are few to start with:

1 - Chico Buarque / Paratodos / Futuros Amantes
3 - Billy Cobham / Crosswinds / Heather
4 - Cyril Morin / Samsara / BumbleBee (a little out there, but could be fun moving to it!)
2 - Seal / Seal IV / Love's Divine
2 - Marie-Jo Thério / La Maline / Arbre à fruits

Nobody wants to build a beautiful, sensual playlist? Boo! That's bad party ethic.

Not at all -- that's why the invite to post, broaden the horizons. And you haven't listened to my "BumbleBee" track have you? Jesus Christ, sex to THAT!?

Anyway, at the moment "everyone" is "me and you", and I for one am very open-minded. I might not act on the open-mindedness, but I don't junk others for differing interests.

So, being an expert Literoti, you've captured my interest. Can you give one itty-bitty example of what should shock me?

Just about anything by Ottmar Liebert puts me in the right frame of mind.

I imagine reclining back against my lover's chest, we are both sitting in the same chaise lounge, sipping wine, looking at the stars in a clear sky, and nothing but Ottmar weaving his magic on the guitar and setting us on course for a lovely evening.

Put Larry Carlton's Sleepwalk on and hit the repeat button... I'm gone.

Wow, great additions! Moon over trees or Flowers of Romance -- and Sleepwalk. WILDLY romantic. It says on Amazon.com that Mr. Liebert makes his home in Santa Fe... people who live in the southwest must be able to see him in person... wouldn't THAT be a treat!

Okay, not meaning to get anywhere near the idea that "climax is the goal of all encounters" with the seemingly trivial rating scale below... but it was my best shot... where does this music take you?

Make it a circular scale instead of a linear one if it makes more sense

Difficult. All I can say is some of the following would feature...
Zero Seven ~ Simple Things
Aphex Twin ~ Druqs
Massive Attack ~ Any
Snow Patrol ~ Final Straw
K&D ~ Sessions
Lucky Pierre ~ Hypnogogia
Portishead ~ Dummy

I remember loving Prince's music in my 20s.

For a good bump and grind, Darling Nikki comes to mind. And I Wanna Be Your Lover as a prelude.

anything by Kenny G (sax is a lovers' instrument ;) )

Hungry Eyes - from Dirty Dancing soundtrack (hear it here)
THIS song heats things right up for me ;)

Unchained Melody - Righteous Brothers

It all depends in the mood of sex you want. Slow passionate sex, I've found that there is no topping Chris Isaac's Heart Shaped World CD.

If you are looking for rough and steady, then you should DEFFINANTLY check out DJ Lithium http://www.blacktigerrecordings.com/ He is great at making very continuously flowing house, techno with a good beat. If his style doesn't work for you though, then DJ Irene is a Great 2nd source. I could be here all day posting her best fuck songs, so just check em out at your own pace.

Then there is the almost violently wild gothic sex. Now THAT is the tough one.

Lords of Acid : Lust
Ministry : Stigmata or Nature of Love
KMFDM : Megalomaniac
NIN : Happieness In Slavery <off of fixed release>
Apoptygma Berzerk : Bitch or ARP
Front 242 : Animal
NIN : Deep or void
Depeche Mode : ahhh hell, they will ALL fit in

Hope that helps and mabey puts a bit of a :) on your face.

Very nice, thanks posters. I have had Mr. Amazon check out some of your tracks... and I have to report that so far, we appear to have a bit of a disconnect between the Feminine  and the Masculine :nana: sensibilities, or as Literotica would have it, the -heart- and the -nana- sensibilities (Big surprise dood). Yes, you know who is who.

Be interesting to see what a really talented DJ could do mixing some of the hard and the soft together... just what we get when we come together as couples? Would it be noise or the finest music ever played? Guess it depends on the DJ (or the couple for that matter).

What about something bluesy, like Seal / Seal IV / Don't Make Me Wait? The whole song is talking about how hard it is to figure out relationships... but the music is honest. Or is that a total turn-off? Too serious, too real, when you just want to jump each other?

Can't believe I didn't respond to this when I first read this post.

For myself, whether I want to luxuriate in the non-hurried fashion of making love or just a quick jumping of a lover who I cannot keep my hands off of, the last thing I'm hearing or thinking about is the lyrics in a song no matter how beautiful they may be.

My body responds to the instrumental melody, the pulsing beat of the drums, the sexiness of the saxophone, the depth of a bass note, and so forth.

Hoping this provides a little bump.

Didn't taste the lemon chiffon until I quoted you... very light bump.

Of course you're right. It would have to be a pretty dry evening in bed to be actively listening to lyrics while your partner is playing with your body... though in a long lovemaking session, one does float in and out of the senses. And I do remember once, during a little "cool down" before warming up again, that some really obnoxious track on the CD player snuck into my awareness... I remember feeling as though I made a face, a "what the hell....?" face, as though someone were having an argument out in the street, while I was trying to get in the groove, so to speak.

I don't think Seal would do that to me, though, since his music has grace and quality. But some tracks... some really pissed off rapper, for example (don't get into dark energy when I am with a partner)...

cowboy junkies

MG mentions the Cowboy Junkies. I believe I have the Trinity sessions (can't remember the name & it's packed away so I can't find it).

Ethereal is the word that comes to mind. Perhaps it's fitting as an afterglow selection.

Hell of a good list, MG.

Heeeeey, look at all this work. Don't you have some homework due on the Interviews thread, hmmmm?

2-Sade/By Your Side
6- (is "6" supposed to be "after"? lol) Sade/The Sweetest Gift
5-Keith Urban/Be Here
4-Sting/When We Dance
6-Bonnie Raitt/Dimming of the Day
2-Bonnie Raitt/Goin' Wild for You Baby
3-Norah Jones/The Nearness of You
6-(this would be a lovely song to play at the end of one go-round and whilst ramping up to round 2) . . .Norah Jones/Turn Me On
5-Norah Jones/Shoot the Moon

Generally beautiful music that isn't too obtrusive .. .just about anything Vivaldi.

Tis true, it is a mighty fine list.

Now, how many of these suggestions are you going to check out? ;)

Well, the official position... so to speak... the official position is that, for approval, all submitted music will have to undergo live laboratory testing. I am afraid that laboratory humans will have to be used in this testing, which is very likely illegal in most US States, but without this hazardous work, the world may never have the definitive Lover's List. The Lover's List Research Center may consider opening a Laboratory over the border somewhere.... Maybe in Tennessee?

Of course, one could imagine non-partner testing as well, but since we all know that sort of thing doesn't exist, the test results will have to be imaginary as well.

Test results to be delivered on post #100. No padding allowed .

Christina Aguiliera - Get mine get yours
Prince - Cream, Erotic City
Bonnie Raitt - I can't make you love me
Dru Hill - Tell Me
Keith Sweat - Nobody
Mariah Carey - We belong together
Marques Houston - Naked (the whole cd)
Moby - The Sky is Broken
Spice Girls - 2 become 1, Naked, Holler
Toni Braxton - You're making me high
Sting - Desert Rose
U2 - She moves in mysterious ways, All I want is You
Usher - Nice and Slow, You Got it bad
Almost anything by Enigma

Is there a way to offer oneself as a subject for testing? Like a weekend stay with compensatory indemnity? I'm a non-smoking female with no allergies, available for overnight stays. If the pay is right, I am willing to travel, although I suspect it may be easier to open a research center here in Montreal, the North American city of sensuality and fine dining. Just a suggestion.

I am by the way also an expert in non-partner testing.

And to ensure my inquiry is not classified as padding, here is another wonderful suggestion:

2 - Aqualung: Stange and Beautiful
