try your local music store. that's where i started when i began learning to play the trumpet. not only did they give me general instrument information but they also were able to direct me to a couple of local instructors. some music stores will offer lessons in-house as well.

I don't know. Tubas are awfully big. You may want to start with a skin flute and work your way up.

i'd check online for books and videos, your bound to find something... go visit you old band teacher lol
