Mismused, I echo your sentiments to the Literotica Underworld of Low-Ballers (LULB). I, too have experienced a story rating dropping once it has gotten hot enough to earn some real respect. While I may not be as copious a writer as yourself (with my few Submissions), I am distraught to know that this "LULB" exists. I thoroughly enjoy getting feedback on my stories, but voting without reading or voting dishonestly is mighty disheartening.
So, while I can't say I've gone to the lengths you have to monitor and track down a possible culprit, I applaud the effort and hope YDD has the guts to step forward.

I know I'll be kicking myself in the morning for this, but I have this compulsion to attempt to set records straight.

I would have been shocked as hell to see YDD "come forward". YDD has never posted to the boards. This person could very well be, and likely is IMO, blissfully unaware of the massive controversy they have stirred up.

Alrighty then! I knew I shouldn't bother posting, especially since I keep running into the same thread over and over again on 3 of the 5 boards I frequent, but I was medicated which tends to keep me from giving a rat's ass what people think of me.

I could have been wrong in my assessment of YDD, yes, but I'm pretty sure there's not a massive poetry conspiracy if that helps you at all.

On the one hand some of those big ole words that YDD uses might come in handy for me. On the other... hell I wouldn't want to be YDD if someone paid me.

Yall want something to really think about... here ye go and I am only typing this out ONE time *copy and paste works and I exercise my right to use it*....

Myself and several others have had many poems commented on and voted on....

The person in my mind that I believe is YDD sort of shot themselves in the foot...

Why you ask...

Simple.

They commented and voted on my poems as their regular I am one of you guys Lit names on about half of my poems.

I made a comment either to this person or about this person and their "normal" postings stopped but oh hell did I get some nasty little tidbits from our resident stalker YDD.

No No wait there is more....

I had a new poem post in the last day or so... it was not touched by YDD or the person that I believe is YDD.... UNTIL I came back into the threads about YDD again.

Last night a very good friend of mine had a slew of their peoms tanked. And yes I mean tanked. When I asked this friend hey did BLANK post on your poems they said no... however... YDD did...

Now boys and girls, children of all ages.... lets go through alittle bit of what Lit does on voting

You can only vote once on a story... wanna know why?
Because they load your IP address with each vote. They know that you voted a 2 on sammysue's story and a 5 on mindyjoe's story.

That's how their little program works when they go in and weed out the votes, they can set it to remove multiple votes from the same IP addy.

Now our resident stalker knows the same thing that I just told you, hence the reason why this person can only tank you under their regular name or under their YDD name.

YDD only has one poem up and it is completely different from any other poem under the regular name?

Why you ask? Heck glad ya did.

Because any of us that read any of the poems for any lenght of time can tell you who a poem was written by because we know each other's styles. So they would have had to post something that is COMPLETELY not like them in order for no one to connect the dots.

But....
ya done screwed up.

Ya see....
your PM emails as YDD and as your regular name give you away. They are done in the same manner the same form with the same tone of voice.

I do have to tip my hat to you though. You have led many on a marry chase all these weeks.

As soon as it all clicked... I began to laugh... tsk tsk for being so naughty you really need a spanking and a Mistress.... should I make sure that all of the pronouns that I use to describe you are lower case.

I believe the phrase here I am looking for is... gotcha.

from the PMs that YDD is sending out... the person is MOST ASSURDEDLY aware of what everyone is saying.

My response to ANYONE who said that YDD is not paying attention to all this commotion would have been, "You are either lying or stupid." Of course she is. That's part of the game. I now see that I need to revise my response to, "You are either lying or stupid or medicated."

And believe you me, Mindy, you are the first person I'd believe about a conspiracy as you roll your eyes.

Back off of Mindy, you don't know her so you have no right to blast her or anyone else.
Mindy is very honest and straight forward, she is not one to go around being malicious or ever making a point to step on someones toes.

Whomever this YDD character is likes to cause problems. There will always be trolls here and weeding them out is difficult.
Ignoring them is the best thing to do.

Some... like to have a nice boat ride and couldn't possibly believe that their super ship the Titanic could ever sink.

Others... know good and damn well that they had better learn how to swim in really rough water and that there is a good possiblility that someone is gonna come by and try and drown them.

Seems to me that the people doing most of the pissing and moaning are also the people getting the shit tanked out of their work. Wouldn't it stand to reason that if you know your words are designed to flame someone, that they might retaliate by hammering your poems/stories?

Cowardice: Um...yeah...it's a public forum where nearly every person here operates under a handle that is NOT their true identity. Aren't we all a little cowardly in that respect? There is no accountability here, by design. And when people are not held accountable for their actions they have nothing to lose by attacking an author's one weakness...their sweet precious babies (stories/poems).

You don't have to like it, but you do have to accept it and I'm guessing that's what has you all so pissed off. And Elizabetht pointed out that she's cracked the case...good for you, E. You said yourself that each IP can only submit one vote, so what the fuck is everyone so worried about. If your work has merit and scores well enough before trolling, then it will undoubtedly rise above a personal shit vote.

I think waving your disdain for certain people about like a flag only invites more people to develop a chip on their shoulder about you and sadly, some of those people have no qualms trashing work with low voting. I've read both of your work and voted accordingly. You each have talent and style all your own and the votes were an honest reflection of how I was affected by your words. That being said, I'd never have imagined either of you could be so childish and petty.

I'm not personally acquainted with Elizabetht, but have been priviledged to read, enjoy and vote on many of her works and at this point am feeling quite melancholy about the author. I've seen you rant, flame and bitch about the Public Comment and Voting systems here at Lit a few too many times now. You have tremendous talent and a visible passion for what you do. That much is obvious to anyone with half a brain. The problem I'm having is understanding why you take it so seriously when people are hateful. I hate getting work tanked as much as the next author, but if I've learned one thing since arriving at Lit it's that there is not a fucking thing I can do about it and most times it is personal and NOT a reflection of your ability as a writer. If I want honest critique and feedback then it is up to ME to develop relationships with people I trust and get it from them. Otherwise you're quite at the mercy of idiots like celebrity judges on Star Search and American Idol.

I do happen to know minsue pretty well and as far as I can tell she's well known and well liked amongst authors and poets alike. Calling her names and accusing her of conspiracy is not likely to net you anything but hell in your PM box and anywhere else you choose to post.

We're all gathered here to celebrate and enjoy good writing. Please get over yourselves and get back to what you do so well. Write! School yard shouting matches are seriously boring and I'd much rather be reading new submissions by the lot of you.

Interesting, come to Lit and find the same issues as on the social BB's. Conspiracy theory and innuendo galore. Almost as entertaining as the stories and poems (but not quite!)

Many great writers here but I'm suspecting not many "computer folks" judging from the comments on only being able to vote once. Ever heard of multiple IPs? I've run across people with 4 or 5 different nics and IPs. That would allow for a lot of tanking.

I must disagree, though, with the characterization of YDD as a troublemaker or a troll. What confuses me the most about these 3 threads is that the comment YDD left on mismused's poem is quite complimentary, IMO. I don't understand the fuss over this comment:

Yes, the thermometer was left at the default of 50%, but most of the comments I've seen from YDD are left at the default. My assumption, which could certainly be wrong, is that this person prefers to comment without voting. I personally hate that I must pick a thermometer level in order to leave a comment and often don't comment because of it.
