The 750 Word Story Contest 2020

Just submitted the story.
Got the idea yesterday, and the first draft came out at 754 words, so I didn't mess with it too much. (Took the four words out, of course). It's just about the simplest plot possible...

But that was fun.

I missed out on this last year. Might just take a crack at it this time around...

I'm tempted to try my hand at this contest, but I am amused/bemused/chagrined after reading some of last year's entries to see how many readers made comments like "this felt rushed -- would have been better with more buildup -- not your best effort."

Just submitted an entry for it myself, felt like a nice challenge to try out. Kinda hard to balance giving a context and making the action spicy to say the least. Might try to write another that is much more focused on just the action to see how that works.

Welp, I did it. That’s A LOT of cutting.

Interesting exercise. I’ll take another read-through tonight and then submit. 743 words.

It just happened that I had a fragment already written that seemed to have potential for this. It took very little effort to extend the thought and make it land close to 750, so I tweaked it enough and posted it. Reader response to the last 750 project seems to have been tepid on the whole, but I probably wouldn't have done anything with this fragment otherwise. So why not let it disappoint readers and sully my reputation?

So you can add a chapter, right? :D

I’m looking at it. Writing short is easy. Writing well that short is a lot harder.

That's not a bad idea. Let me check my archive of story starts that never went anywhere and see if one can be refashioned for this purpose.

Submitted.

We'll see. I'm not expecting greatness; I found I could do two of the following three things:

1. A naughty, engaging story.
2. A hot, engaging fuckscene.
3. A shuddering, engaging climax.

I punted on the climax. They cum, but not until around Word #800. So we shall see. It's in EC, too, which ain't my favorite.

I wondered about this.
After looking closely in my folder (directory) of curiosities, I found about 761 words of gibberish.
And I have entered it.

Fastest story for me.

I think the one I wrote, Looking upon the Stars https://literotica.com/s/looking-upon-the-stars was the fastest story I've ever written from idea to submission. I saw the tweet about the project and the whole thing was submitted about four hours later. Mainly thanks to sudden inspiration.
There's no sex in it though, just the memories of two characters who met once by coincidense.

Given that readers are often telling me: 'Very good but too short' this should be a doddle. But it isn't. :( I still need to lose about 50 words.

I'm at 775, so I need to trim a bit

I grabbed an idea left over from another story and ran with it. This was fun!

Had a great time with last year's, and it was well-received. This time around was a lot of fun (and on a day when I really needed that, too!). Looking forward to reading the others.

I couldn't get to 750 words for the Oggbashan Tribute (so I cheated and called my entry a poem), but I don't think I can get away with that twice. Can I?

Well, this threw me off the rails on my writing schedule. A second one is insisting on being written today.

I whipped one out this morning. So to speak. I'll sit on it and keep editing it until close to the deadline. It was fun to do, but not especially erotic. I might try to write a more erotic one before the end of the month.
