I'm watching/listening to a YouTube video about how to make vegan dips (as in, hummus, etc).

I don't quite follow - is this for new stuff or just a live thing?

Speaking of which, have you seen the Rockpalast concert of Porcupine Tree?
https://youtu.be/YmbQvrXiFUE
I have no idea what this is.

Hopefully, hopefully, this is a new album.
We will find out more on Monday.

Yeah, that was a great concert; honestly, I have never seen a bad live video from them. Early in their career they did this outdoor show at a rock festival in Atlanta, Georgia that was amazing for such a low budget set up.

Assuming the complete work.

"Why should I care, Why should I care....."

Might have to dig that one out this weekend
Yes - the remastered version from 1996, which is a far superior mix compared to the original, which had a sonic veil over it.

I heard a "new" Billy Idol song on the car radio yesterday - don't know when it was released, and I was only half listening.

Heh. No idea if and when he did release anything after the "Cyberpunk" album. I must be one of about three people on Earth to enjoy that beautiful train wreck. But anything after? No idea.

Well this is hopefully a very pleasant surprise announcement:

It gets really interesting sped up five times:

...

I HOPE it is what you seem to think it is ... and a new Porcupine Tree album is in the works.

I FEAR it might just be another compilation / live recording / remastering / box-set / regurgitation / etc. of the old stuff.

I likes "The Incident" more than most albums in PT's backlog, and haven't much enjoyed Wilson's solo stuff since that time.

Wiki says last studio album 2016, but an EP "The Roadside" last month - maybe what EB heard? I think I recall YT offering me a video for a new Idol song pretty recently.

I'm afraid to risk an ear. Too many of my heroes have embarrassed themselves, most recently pirate metal legends Running Wild. (Seriously, the stuff RW just released from his home studio sounds worse - far worse - than what I can cook up on my budget synths!)

In Billy's case, "Cyberpunk" already was a hot mess - way too much toothless synth blubber, not nearly enough punk. At least his voice was still intact back then. (Still, it was during my early Gibson fanboy phase and I slavishly inhaled and adored anything cyberpunk-adjacent)

I remember seeing an unplugged gig on TV late one night in the early 2000's and he not only looked unwell, but sounded like crap.

On the other hand, I'm paying for Music Unlimited, so why not...? I'll be back.

Edit: Billy Idol - The Roadside (EP)
That was less painful than anticipated. He's aged hard, but whoever worked the knobs did a good job of playing to his strengths. Not a fan of the cheerleader choir, but whatever. There are some nice guitar bits in there, some passages evoke 80s nostalgia (a bit of "Rebel Yell" in "Rita Hayworth" for example). Overall, very competently done. The cracks in his voice give me definitive late-stage Johnny Cash vibes which contrasts sharply (for better or worse) with the suggestive lyrics.
