Hey all this is the OOC thread for 2 threads, Dc War & Marvel War.
(This is also a different thread to the ORP Thread)

The Concept is that the Marvel Comics and Dc Comics universes are both at war, not with each other, but with other warring factions in their own respective universe. This thread is the joint OOC thread for both teams. If we get enough interest we'll be putting up two IC threads.

Neither should be for the faint of Heart.

NOTE: each of these games occur in different dimensions to the normal universes, so you could play a Super-powered Batman, or a good version of Magneto.

Imagine getting to play your own take anyone in the Marvel Universe (Though obviously there are exceptions). Want to play a someone from the Dc Universe with a twist? Done. I myself will be playing both threads.
For the Marvel War thread I will be Playing WarMachine of a different type.
For Dc War I will be playing Green Arrow with More Tech.
Does this give you all an Idea of the range these threads can take?

Now for the bad. This thread can and will include character deathes. When someone comes up with a new idea they can have their character die to bring in the new one. I'm talking about this because each team has a membership of five. Because I am running a character in each thread the number of players for any team will be four. If you don't make the list quick enough you get the next opening. Returning players will go to the end of the line for placement.

Marvel War Membership
1. WarMachine (NiteCrowe)
2. Hulk (ToolmanTim)
3. Wolverine (renegadeirishman)
4. Julia (Newlysubbed)
5.

Dc War Membership
1. Green Arrow (NiteCrowe)
2.
3.
4.
5.

Rules....
>No immortals
>No Gods (Marvel War Only)
>No Spectral Beings, i.e. Spectre (Dc War Only)

NOTE 2: Each war will be fought against different Foes.
Each war will be a Variation of the following.
Marvel War = The Ultron War
Dc War = The Lord Batman War

So if I joined the Marvel thread, could I play a celestial? An eternal? Irving Forbrush?

Well this is certainly more ambitious then I expected from the "threads that need players" thread.

I guess I'll give it a whirl, I'll take the 90's hulk; the green Hulk's body with the brain of Bruce Banner. I don't want to write a bio until I know more about the universe we're writing in.

I hate having to change things once I've set them in my head.

lol celestials are out unfortunatly. (they count as immortals)

ok i'll post some rundown of the universes asap.

The Marvel universe

In this marvel universe, Mutants were never accepted in the least, and few heroes are ever truly accepted by the people of the world. Most notable of these are the G-Force, Consisting of Captain America, WarMachine, Wasp and the Invisible Woman.

Reed Richards and Johnny Storm never took to space with Ben Grimm, Sue Storm & Victor Von Doom, and were instead replaced on the mission by Tony Stark and Hank Pym. Tony Stark died during the cosmic incident, and Henry Pym returned to Earth changed viscously into a malignant Technopath. Doom, returned to earth and became the messiah of latveria, and is famous for finding a cure for cancer. Storm went on to found the G-Force and became a respected hero and the wife of Warmachine. Grimm went on to become the man in charge of NASA.

Richards is still a shy recluse of a biophysist, and Johnny died in a biking incident not long after.

Namor revealed the existance of Atlantis to an accepting crowd, and along with Erik Lensherr, The Human leader of Germany, Started the world wide Atlantis aware contract. To this day the Seas have become a less polluted place.

Charles Xavier died during an accident in his early twenties. In his stead, his Friend Christopher Summers and Brother Cain Marko, started up a secret school for mutants and those with powers.

In New York, A student named Peter Parker died after been bitten by a mutated spider. Though new York now has a hero in the Shape of The Black Cat.

The vampire race was wiped off the face of the earth in the early 1920's after a virus affecting only vampires was unleashed by the United Nations Agency SHIELD.

The gods chose to never reveal themsleves to this population.

Dc Universe

Bruce Wayne never knew his parents. Raised from birth by the man known as Ra's Al Ghul, Bruce trained to become the leader of a better earth, and became known as The Bat, or more approipriatly, Lord Bat.

Krypton was destroyed randomly by an asteroid collision. No Kryptonians survived.

In effort to stop Lord Bat from taking over the earth a Green Martian known as John Johnzz formed a league of heroes to protect the world, led by himself, The Flash, Green Arrow, Nightwing & Black Canary.

The Green lantern Corps never arrived on earth, instead having to divert all there forces to combat the sinestro corps. The New Gods also never learnt of earth.

In Bludhaven a former acrobat and orphan named Dick grayson became NightWing protector of those who needed it.

Ok, so the United Nations formed at least twenty years before it did in this reality. Neat.

I ask for a defined universe and I get it.

Did you want Bruce Banner to join G-Force or be one of the supers that never got accepted? I can work it either way, but I don't want to step on your toes.

Basically its up to you.

you have free reighn to do as you wish, as long as you don't break the rules lol.

More questions:

How long ago did Sue go off into space? I want the Hulk to have become the Hulk around the same time.

Do you mind if I have Shield kill Betty Ross while interrogating Bruce? I can make them rogue SHIELD agents, or I can make them Hydra or AIM if you want.

I'd like to have Rick Jones taken into SHIELD custody after it was discovered he witnessed the birth of the Hulk. After that Bruce never sees Rick again.

Is there a world government or still national governments? If national governments, is the UN a powerful force to be reckoned with?

If SHIELD formed in or before the 20's then did WWII happen?

I guess for now that's it. I've got a rough outline of the Hulk's character and I'll present it depending on how you want to shape your world.

I think the Hulk will be a bit of an anti-hero, fighting a government that seeks to contain or destroy him until the universal threat posed by Ultron, or whoever, forces an alliance with G-Force.

ok lets answer your questions...

1. Sue went into space 10 years previously.
2. Use HYDRA as that is the organisation run by the Villian Pym and his wife Madam Hydra. yes you can kill Betty Ross ect, the world is yours to mould.
3. yes you can do that with rick.
4. National governments still, the Un is just like it is today, and is used mainly for international issues.
5. WW2 did happen, yes, because at that time SHIELD was run by Red Skull who was posing as a hero.

Its up to you on how you want to represent him as long as you don't break the rules and are happy with your character. People are more scared of heroes than in awe so its up to you.

Age: 45
Identity: Publically Known
Gender: Male
Occupation: Anti-Hero, Former Physicist
Powers: Superhuman strength, stamina, healing and durability. The Hulk can see astral projections

History:

In this reality Bruce Banner's father, Brian, did not murder his mother before Bruce's eyes. Instead, they were both killed in a car accident while Bruce was still an infant. Bruce was raised by his maternal Aunt and Uncle, the Drakes. While Bruce did have a certain amount of trama from this, he turned out to be a much better adjusted person, with a very odd sense of irony.

Ten years ago Dr. Banner was probably the smartest man alive and easily the most influential scientist on the planet. He was employed by the United States department of Defence and reported directly to President Clinton. World famous, Dr. Banner showed up on such TV hits as the Simpsons, Seinfeld and Friends. He was engaged to the love of his life, Betty Ross, daughter of the base commander U.S. Air Force general Thaddeus E. "Thunderbolt" Ross. Dr. Bruce Banner had it all.

Dr. Banner was in the testing stage of one of his many inventions, the Gamma bomb. The Gamma bomb used shaped pieces of fissionable materials to create a seven part Nuclear reaction. THe fission explosion would create a fusion reaction which, utilizing wave harmonics, would expand out in a five part pattern where the excess of the particles of the fallout from the fusion reaction would gather into five distinct positions which would create five more fission level explosions. The final five explosions would release only electromagnetic radiation, mostly gamma radiation, at an odd frequency. The gamma radiation would be reabsorbed by the earth leaving no background nuclear radiation. Dr. Banner had created a nuclear bomb that had a yield that was ten times the area of the next largest nuclear weapon and was perfectly clean, leaving no harmful radiation. It was the most powerful weapon the Earth had ever seen.

It was the test day of the gamma bomb. Bruce spotted a teenager parking his car in the blast area. Bruce ordered the test to be shut down while he rushed out of his protective bunker to pull the kid out of the way. Bruce's second in command was a Russian spy who wanted the bomb for his country. He did not give the order to end the test. Bruce had gotten the kid, Rick Jones, an inch past the safety line and was about to pass it himself when the bomb went off. Bruce was considered the world's foremost scientific mind for a reason. While he and Rick were less then an inch apart, Bruce was bombarded with gamma radiation, Rick was not touched by a single joule.

Miraculously Dr. Banner seemed unhurt. He wa taken to the base medical facility and examined while Rick was taken to the base stockade and questioned.

Meanwhile the Russian spy burned a copy of the Gamma bomb's diagrams to a dvd and planted explosives around the base's information center, planning to abscond with the plans. He misplaced a wire in the plastic explosies and blew himself up.

That night, infront of his doctor and nurses, Robert Bruce Banner turned into the Hulk for the first time. He had the mind of a child and scared of the medical staff he leapt away, crashing through the hospital walls. The military chased after him, trying to contain the good doctor before he hurt himself or others. After the Hulk decimated one of their tanks they redoubled their efforts and soon learned that nothing can hurt the Hulk. When he reverted to Bruce Banner he was captured and taken to the stockade where he was rigorously questioned. Bruce could remember nothing of the previous night's events. That evening Bruce turned into the Hulk again, smashed himself ot of military custody and destroyed every vehicle sent against him. The military would not recapture him again for a very long time. They hounded him, in part to stop his rampage, and in part to stop another world power from gaining access to the greatest weapons designer of the age. Also, the plans for the gamma bomb had been destroyed, and they wanted those plans.

In our reality, Dr. Banner subjected himself to gamma treatments that gave him some control of the Hulk by furthering his mutation. In this reality Dr. Banner did not have access to those machines and the mutation ran it's course. After the first week Banner remembered things that happened the previous night, and the Hulk began to access a few of Banner's memories as well. Banner noted he spent more time as the Hulk every night. Banner sought out his colleague, Reed Richards, who confirmed the situation and together the two guided the mutation down it's natural course. By the end of the first month Banner was now the Hulk full time, but his own brain had finally adjusted to the mutation. He was as powerful as the Hulk and still remained Bruce Banner.

Bruce left the Baxter Building in secret and set out to make peace with the government. He sought out General Ross, which was a mistake. Ross felt betrayed by Banner, especially because his daughter had gone into a state of depression over what happened to her betrothed. Instead of listening to reason General Ross redoubled his efforts to capture Banner. He formed a military unit called the "Hulk-busters" who would use Banner's own inventions to capture the beast. Banner, in turn, dedicated himself to destroying all copies of his pattens and every prototype he ever designed. He grew a general distrust for the government, a distrust fed by their attacking him at least once a month, and their tracking him via satellite. After the Hulk became an international threat the UN made a decree that anyone harboring or helping the Hulk in anyway would be considered an accomplice in all of his crimes.

Bruce had many adventures around the globe, meeting various villains and other superheroes who were being hounded by the government. About two years after he became the Hulk, Bruce was captured by Hydra who sought to contain him with a combination of sleeping gasses and a magnetic cell. The sleeping gasses, though varied, were slowly losing their effect on him, the Hulk's biology more then a match for the gasses. The magnetic cell was also not strong enough to hold him for very long. But Madame Hydra had a plan. She had Kidnapped Betty Ross from the hospital where she was being treated for depression, and reunited the lovebirds. She threatened to kill Betty if the HUlk did not follow her commands to the letter. Bruce agreed, Betty did not. An amazing woman in her own right a glimpse of her beloved, even in his new form, was enough to cure her depression. She struggled with Madame Hydra and was shot, by accident.

The Hulk grew angry, and in his anger, exponentially more powerful. The magnetic cell which should have held him for days was destroyed in minutes. THe rest of the Hydra base followed suit.

After his rage subsided, Bruce salvaged a few of their computers and gathered a small list of Hydra bases. He tracked them down and destroyed them, though with less finality then the first one. He was able to salvage more information from each base. The Hulk began to see SHIELD Pacrats flying overhead as he left Hydra bases. It culminated one day when a Pacrat landed before the Hulk left. A single man walked down the ramp: General Ross, dressed in SHIELD blue. The two looked at each other for a long time, neither said a word. Finally Bruce turned and leapt away. The general watched him go then turned toward the Pacrat and called for his boys. They went in and rounded up the Hydra agents.

Bruce's vendetta against Hydra ended shortly before the Skrull invasion. He had destroyed every Hydra base he could find. Madame Hydra was still at large but for now, his debt to Betty was over. The Skrull invasion took up a great deal of his time.

Bruce didn't much care for the government, but he'd be damned before he let aliens take over. He fought against the Skrulls across the globe, learning how to knock out their saucer shaped ships and quickly learned the technology well enough to pilot the ships and turn them against their masters. Bruce played an integral roll in pushing back the invasion, and brought the battle to the Skrull homeworld, Skrullos. There he defeated the Super Skrull in one-on-one arena style combat in front of the Skrull Emperor. Bruce was sent back to Earth with the promise that the Skrull armada would be recalled. The Skrull admiral incharge of the fleet ignored the order and pressed the attack. Bruce stood side-by-side with War Machine and the Invisible Woman as they fought back the final push of the war.

Despite this the UN decree made it all but impossible for the Hulk to be asked to join G-Force when it was formed, no matter how the actual members of the group felt. The UN decree has also kept General Ross awaiting trial for the last 8 years for failing to attempt to capture the Hulk during their shared vendetta against Hydra.

Since the Skrull invasion the Hulk has had numerous adventures throughout the world allying and fighting with various supers, both heroes and villains.

As a note, the only man to ever beat the Hulk in one-on-one combat is Captain America. Probably the world's greatest martial artist, Cap utilized his indestructable shield in combination with pressure points to take down the Hulk.

Cool, welcome to the Marvel War, though i want to point out the following...

Iron Man never existed, there was only WarMachine

The official founders were Cap America, WarMachine, Wasp & Invisible Woman

I love the idea of the Hulk as an unofficial founder.

apart from that it rules.

welcome, now we just need more people to join.

Cut out Iron Man, pasted in War Machine. Sorry about that.

I was never a big Hulk fan, even when Peter David was writing it, until I read the first fifty issues. I began to realize that Bruce Banner was a hero. He may have had all the martial skill of a wet newspaper, possibly less, but he would always do what's right and always put his life on the line to save another without question of cost. I would argue that out of all of Marvel's first generation Bruce Banner was the most heroic.

The Fantastic Four were all Prima Donnas, which made for fine stories but detracts from their heroism when going for most heroic.

Spider-man never wanted to be a hero and was driven out of guilt.

The X-Men were a group of kids lead by a harsh taskmaster/father figure. Theoretically Charles Xavier wanted what was best for them but he repeatedly comes off as an ass.

Thor was a god who was more interested in boning his secretary then in doing what Odin commanded.

Daredevil was just another cardboard superhero who was waiting for later writers, especially Frank Miller, to turn him into a fan favorite.

Captain America was confused about his place in this new age.

Iron Man was a playboy billionaire as much as a hero, often looking out for Stark Industries first.

I can go on. I don't want to detract from their heroics, they were all heroes. But Bruce was the only actualized adult who made his decisions simply because they were the right thing to do. As much as he loved Betty he knew he had to deal with the menace of the Hulk before he could have a life with her. Bruce never counted the cost when saving the world was on the line. He would work with people who wanted him dead, never holding a grudge if it meant he could save someone. He was a hero, he embodied the hero in everything he did. Read some of the old comics Stan Lee wrote, you'll see what I mean. I think Bruce Banner could lift Thor's hammer, but the Hulk never could.

Anyway, the film missed that. It never showed Bruce's heroic side. Which is too bad.

Notice I left it open for some of the heroes of G-Force to have wanted the Hulk to join, but the penalty from the UN would have been too steep, a penalty they were not opposed to applying to General Thunderbolt Ross, who was working for them at the time.

woah, you have basically summed up all my views on comics in a sentence....except i never really liked hulk, and i hate spiderman with a passion.

lol

Again, the writers lost site of the incredibly good person Bruce Banner was and focused to the point of obscenity on his mental problems. He was a well-adjusted member of society who was arguably the smartest man in the world and did report directly to the president in his first appearance. While Reed Richards was losing the space race to the Russians, Bruce Banner had an entire military base devoted to his capacity for building weapons of mass destruction and conventional arms. They're about the same age, but Bruce was decidedly ahead of him in science. Then they both have fateful accidents and Reed pulls ahead.

Then again, Reed was an OSS agent in WWII, risking his life everyday as a spy to take down Nazi Germany. Bruce, if you remember, has the martial skill of a sopping wet newspaper.

Then there was the seventies, the decade where comics sucked. Mostly because they had no editorial standards and cronyism. Say what you like about Jim Shooter when he took over Marvel the stories were good again.

Anyway, I digress because I'm tired.

The first 40-odd issues of Amazing Spider-man are the greatest comics of their time and some of the greatest of all time. Then Steve Ditko left the book for creative differences and the book got worse. Then Stan Lee left and it got worse. The problem was it was still about ten times better then anything else out there, except Stan Lee's run on the Fantastic Four.

My problem with Spider-man is that you could bottle farts, slap a spidey label on them and retail it at $19.99. Spider-man has his moments of greatness. Eric Larson & Todd MacFarlane's runs on the book strike me as particularly excellent.

The other problem with Spider-man is that he's had so many adventures there's simply no way for him to have a single history. There's just so many stories that you can't make one coherent linear timeline. At one point Spidey had six monthly books. (Amazing, spectacular, web of, marvel team up featuring spider-man and just plain Spider-man) his continuity was worse then a pre-crisis DC hero.

But I digress. I am a comics geek. But you don't have to be to join this thread. You don't have to be a comics scholar and know the history of comics because we're making it up as we go along.

So feel free to ignore my entire preceding post and join us.

lol, and i tought i was a comics geek lol, but then again, i am young.

we just need some more characters before we start.

Are you looking for specific characters? It looks like you could use at least an Invisible Woman.

I'm not bothered really about specific or none specific chars. we just need some more, and some girls would be nice.
