I think for way too many it is not the religion that jades them...it is the people who incorrectly practice the religion to lift themselves higher then others that makes the bad feelings. It took me a very long time to realize that i am loved because i sin, not in spite of my sins. I know I am loved unconditionally, there are no deal breakers and I am supposed to make mistakes, and that is what helps me stay on my path. *shrug* It is not meant to sound like I am a holy roller although it may read that way. I'm just a person who now understands what all those things i learned in sunday school really mean.CutieMouse said:Thank you for telling me what you would add, if you were adding to the conversation, KC.
I don't think religion is wrong; I think far too often religion gets twisted to cause people pain in the name of God/Faith/Whatever. I take issue with people being shunned, made to feel guilty, or hurt in the name of God. I Love hearing that Faith brings hope and comfort to those who are able to meld their religion with their needs and desires- it reminds me that it can happen.
When I was Catholic (I converted after my first was born), if someone had told me the part you mentioned about the Church accepting if you don't see a particular act/thing as being a sin, I'd have probably been a happier Catholic... but it was never quite explained that way to me. I didn't do so hot at the confession part of Catholicism, in that I rarely confessed to a Priest; however, the experience did teach me how important it was for me to always attempt to live as honestly as possible, and when I did something wrong, to make ammends. I also still say rosaries when I'm in need of comfort... odd, eh?
I was the most rock solid good girl devout Southern Baptist in high school... nothing (I thought) could shake my foundation. I bought the "sex is for marriage" argument hook line and sinker, and part of me regrets that... I would have made some vastly different choices in Life, had I not felt that way in my teen years. Even that, though, isn't a horrible thing, as it helped me become who I am today. Before I got the message that sex was only for marriage, I already believed intimacy to be a sacred thing; I still do, which is why I have about 1/5th the number of partners as anyone else I know. (wry smile) So that religious stage of my Life more complimented my personal philosophies regarding intimacy, than formed them out of whole cloth... I can't knock religion for that.
Sometimes I envy others for their Faith... I regret that I've not been a strong enough person to maintain it, or to fully reconcile certain parts of my Life with the dogma I knew as Christianity. For a while I felt my desires had to be squashed down and stuffed away if I was going to make God happy. Then I got rather pissed off at God (for other reasons), and got angry at people who felt a lot of the things that I've finally accepted about myself are wrong in the eyes of God... I still get frustrated some days with religion (more that I get frustrated with narrow interpritations of religion, that don't tell the whole picture), but I also get frustrated with myself for no longer having that deep Trust I once had. The older I get the more I mellow I grow on the subject, and the more I realize I can't blame "religion" for some things that I used to.
Herm... enough babbling; I hope it was civil, because I meant it to be.![]()

1). Adultery, even with consent of a spouse is still adultery, and people who violate this statute inevitably are struck down beyond repair when they least expect it.
2). Human self degradation is the road to poverty. People who degrade themselves intentionally are called sloths. Sloth is accompanied by a genetic mutation on the DRD gene series in human DNA. The genetic mutations of the DRD gene series are seen with all self degradation, masturbation, sodomy, fornication, drug addiction, mood disorders, attention deficit disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, pornography, lust, indecent exposure, excessive risk taking, satanism, use of card decks to gamble or predict the future, compulsive gambling, homosexual thoughts, bestiality, homicide, rape, abortion, genocide, terrorism, greed, cannibalism, child molestation, robbery, soelancia, galrax, folshiry, hindery, flaclec, bisexuality, feminism, fantasies of violence or fascination with the morbid, thoughts that curse God, thoughts of killing other people, incarceration, suicide, atheism, Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism. In the USA it has been found that sexually dysfunctional people listen to rock music frequently. It was also found they have low self esteem, are underachievers, have dysfunctional relationships across the board, especially with parents, viewed pornography at an early age, frequently had been sexually molested, did not confess their sins in Roman Catholic Confession, frequently developed adult onset diabetes, were chronically victimized, failed to achieve middle class status, were atheists, relied on secular humanism to help them, were failed by countless mental health professionals throughout life, had abortions, used artificial birth control, were criminals or alcoholics, or dated criminals or alcoholics, or both.
3). Total life expectancy for the sexually deviant is 45 - 50 years.
4). Once a sin is committed the sinner bears the guilt until the sin is forgiven. If the sinner either doesn't know how to have his/her sins forgiven, refuses to confess, or denies he/she is committing sin, he/she bears the guilt for the sin.
5). The guilt for the sins of dead ancestors rests on the living through roots of ancient doom, extending up from the netherworld and resonating a cry for help from the damned, that someone among the living take responsibility for the sins of the dead, and confess these sins to Jesus Christ, asking forgiveness by The Power of His Precious Blood of Jesus for the the sins of the dead so they can come into God's Light.
6). The mutations on the DRD gene series are caused by the guilt of the sins of our dead ancestors mutating human DNA. This is verified by The Holy Bible: "The sins of the fathers will be passed on to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me." People are being born in Satan's prison of sexual dysfunction.
7). Godless perversion is not an exercise of freedom. It is a sign of spiritual bondage. To break spiritual bondage sin must be confessed to a person qualified to forgive sin.
8). Roman Catholicism is the practice of becoming immortal by the principle maxim of sorcery: If you know an entity's name, and you take on its nature, you have access to its power. For Roman Catholics this translates to: If you know The Name Jesus Christ, and you take on His Nature you will be Immortal.
9). If anyone wants forgiveness, fall on your face before God and claim The Precious Blood of Jesus Christ to atone for your sin, and confess your sin, out loud, with your lips. Ask Jesus to please save you from eternity in everlasting fire.
10). I'm not trying to hurt anyone. There is nothing any of the people on this board can do to hurt me, so I'm not worried. I just want people to have eternal life, and not die so young.

catalina_francisco said:LOL, yes I have known many Catholics who have this view and thus feel it gives them the right to do anything they want to others because all is forgiven in confession....hmm, used to know one who slept with at least 1 different girl every day because he confessed on Sunday so he could start again free of guilt on Monday...now that is real belief!!Unfortunately I feel that is a cop out and not at all what is intended, but it sure makes it easy to go through life spreading venom and doing what you want without having a moments feeling of guilt or real remorse and genuine faith.
Despite this, I married a Catholic who abhors those who feel confession is the answer to everything and forgives you your sins and thus permits you to do as you please...unlike your nonchalant, non-caring attitude, "I am better than you' attitude, he actually does have a conscience, does think about how his actions affect others, does go out of his way to treat others fairly and respectfully, does help others, does believe he will be answerable for his actions, and doesn't use God as an excuse to do anything he pleases. I know which Christian I prefer to reside with, the non-hypocritical, un-self rightous man I married as opposed to a pretender which I see your version of Christianity as being.

Oh, and by the way, I have a university degree too, not to mention a lot of other accreditations and honours to my name...so what?!! Oh, and I can also think for myself so I don't have to speak what someone else tells me to as you say you do.

I have everything I have ever dreamed of, and much more. My life is perfect, and I'm immortal. You can't beat that. My life literally has no problems, because I confess sin, and put God first. I've been delivered from two terminal illnesses. I am free to do whatever I want all the time.
SwanSword said:You may not like it, but that's the way it is. If sin is confessed, with contrition and repentance, it is forgotten. It goes away. And, I'm not a religious nut. I am a coldly rational person, educated in most fields of study at University level. I have degrees in chemistry and computer programming.

For every person who found a formal religious life, they all came into it from a different route. That means the rest of us have little hope of finding common elements with each other, leading to disagreements.
I was brought up Catholic, yet saw ghosts and spoke to them. Not a great thing to try and talk to the Church about.
When I got divorced my (then) pre-teen niece informed my sons and I we were damned to hell because of it. I was very happy to hear this, it meant that if there was no return back to Gods grace I should make the most of lying, stealing and all manner of bad things here on earth.
I am now a Spiritualist which is a recognised bona fide religion in the UK, and make a living talking to dead people.
I meditate and find aspects of his deep mind control of me, similar to a deep meditation. Although it has been a while since either occurred.
If the OP wants to discuss God and Gods love, maybe he should start with the starving millions in third world countries or those people who have died fighting in wars which have a religious element.
Religious zeal and non-religious zeal, are both places that cause discord amongst people.
My beliefs center on 'personal responsibility' whatever my fate is when I die, I will go knowing I tried to live a life that did not negatively impact on others.
