How are people finding their stuff being plagiarized?

I'm starting to feel pretty paranoid. I started sharing my poetry here thinking it was a safe place, but I'm starting to feel less secure. My poems are like my children, and I don't want someone else taking my stuff and claiming it as theirs.

Where do you look? Google? MySpace search?

Thanks!

I google. Not for my own, so much, since most of mine is embedded into illustrations, but for my wife's. And, sadly, I often find it out there somewhere. :(

I found the current thief by accident whilst trawling through MySpace

Dear Unapologetic,

it is not just happening here. Last year an anonymous email alerted me to the fact that one of my poems was on a blog at adult friend finder. IT was one of those, Hwo dare you steal my friend's poem, emails...

The girl had stolen a few dozen poems off Clean Sheets, mine was one of them, and there were poems from a couple others here.

its not just Lit that is being pillaged

Unfortunately, if you want to share your work, there is no "safe place," either online or in print. Print is probably safer, but only because fewer people have access to it.

And, also unfortunately, there is no sure way to search to see if someone has copped your work. A basic scan would be to use multiple search engines with a quoted distinctive phrase from the poem and see if anything turns up. For example, I took a quoted line from Eve's poem "A Hot Sex Scene" ("Wild Cry burns shadows out of the corner") and submitted it to Google, MSN Live Search, and Yahoo and got three different results. Google found that it had been posted to a thread here at Literotica, but nothing else. Live Search found it had been posted twice in different editions of Dennis Mahagin's blog (by permission, I'm sure). Yahoo found one of Dennis' blog pages but not the other. And also found that it is posted in Cutesy's blog at Yahoo 360.

Sorry, Eve.

I just reported the crazy lady

I mean cute lady

She is definately not Eve.

unless the tofu has gone seriously awry

but Eve, the poem is not up here anymore, hopefully you have it somewhere :(

Here is the email I sent to the cutsie who stole Eve's poem.

haha Maria, I think you are right, it gets me more angry to see other people's stuff stolen!

"A Hot Sex Scene" is not your poem. I have alerted the original original poet and the publisher who included her work in a print anthology.

Plagiarism is illegal.

Write your own poetry. It is good for your soul.

Thanks

For the information, and (even though it sounds a bit maudlin) for being so who you all are. Despite my original comment, the discussion board does feel safe.

The poem is at the 4 hour hard on and in barking dogs.
I just emailed yahoo about the poem. I emailed that other place about the poem and that other place about the other poem... I have a headache.

You might want to send something there. There is also a link on the page to "Report for abuse" (underneath her pictures), which clicks through to a Yahoo form where you can report the copyright infringement.

Anyone understand blogs?
I found my poem (changed some) posted here:

http://pointlessbanter.net/blog81/2006/08/24/on-phone-sexpart-4-of-fetish-series/

I posted a comment under it... not sure if it's showing up yet or not.
I can't figure out who to contact or how.

Here's my original poem that she stole from:

wonderfuck Poem Erotic Poetry 07/23/04
wonderfuck
by WickedEve ©

your calls were obscene,
yellow coated and stretched elastic.
you spanked me with a butter-fuck tone,
mellowing me into soft acceptance

of being your dirty slut
for such tender perversion.

nothing like unzipped friendships
and sweating phones.
i was your wonderfuck,

collaged for cumming,
rewind slo-mo cumming,
my name vibing between your lips.

smudged me,
photographed me,
called me art.

it was wonderfucking.

WE,

No guarantee but her (Loree Lytle) blog, Pretty Poison is part of a larger set-up, Pointless Banter Poetry.net. The PBP logo's at the right on this page you cited. Click on it and it'll take you to Pretty Poison's parent site, then to the left, under Navigate, is the "Contact Us" line which brings up a means for you to send a message to the parent blog.

Good Luck Eve.

Sorry, Eve.
Thanks for letting me know. That part of her blog has been deleted--I believe by yahoo.

And this site http://www.sexinf.com/ has its poetry offline. They had one of my poems, and I think they had one of Neo's. I emailed these people about 6 times with all the proof I could find. I basically worried them to death. They never replied. They never said, "Sorry. Our mistake." Nothing. But the poems are not online right now.

This thief still has part of my poem online: http://pointlessbanter.net/blog81/2006/08/24/on-phone-sexpart-4-of-fetish-series/

I did email Heather's friend (unlikely muse, who lifted so many literotica poems) I actually sent him several emails and gave him details about my poem, and I thought I gave him enough proof to see the light. I even encouraged him to continue supporting his friend and told him one of the best ways to do that was to get her to be honest. I still feel the way most you do--I'm sure you feel this way--like someone stole a little piece of your life. I wanted this woman's friend, Brian, to know what the poem was really about, since it was about a moment of my life.

If anyone ever finds my work online and it appears to be somewhere it shouldn't, please let me know. I'll do the same for you. :)

It's been nice communicating with you all again. Thanks Tzara, Maria, Seattle, Leon for responding to my posts.
