Never mind video recorders, I remember when the remote control came out. It was the only exercise people got, getting up out of their chair to turn the channel over, that said most parents got the kids to do it. That was something as well, watching tv as a family.Programming the video recorder took skill and precision, if you mastered it, you had the power!
Also: those plastic cases for VHS tapes that made them look all bookish.
When tuning the TV in meant flipping the little panel down and twisting the knob to get the right channels. Had to wait for the adverts to finish to see if you’d got right channel.
