What are you most proud of?

I have to admit I struggle with this, try ling to find something I am proud of. Especially accomplishments as I have gotten older. I would say I helped raise some a couple good step kids. They are both successful and good people. I hope I had something to do with that.

They say children are our legacy. Raising great kids to be great adults is tough! Go you!

What I am most proud of are the moments when my words slip past the guardrails and awaken something raw in a reader - the tremor of fear, the pull of desire, that sudden awareness of being alive in their own skin. I am proud when my stories make the pulse misbehave, when restraint frays into fascination, and someone realizes they are trembling… and doesn’t want to stop.

Raising someone, who is not related to me, because it is the right thing to do.

Forgiving people who have done me wrong if they really didn't mean to, trying to push past the hurt into their perspectives and reasons for doing so. We are all human and formed by our upbringing and circumstances to a degree.
Asking for forgiveness if I have caused hurt with my actions.

Trying to be open and helpful even if it's really not my week and I'd really rather do something else, sometimes I've heard after years how much it meant for someone that I invited them or just called them.

This is work related, but still. I like to get along with people. At work, the project I was working on, a giant project with 10,000 people working on it, was going badly and I had the owner of the company, the customer, politicians and everyone else breathing down my neck. One of the engineering directors, a young man near my age, handed in a report that wasn't as tight as it needed to be. I went down to his office to discuss it. He had an aid with him. I told him that it was inadequate. He started telling me that it was the best he could do. I got up from the chair and said, "OK, we can get someone else to do it." He said "Wait, wait, let me give it another try". He came back with an outstanding piece of work and did outstanding work on everything I handed him from that point forward. It took a year, but with lots of help from a whole lot of people, we turned it around.

Trying my hand at another thread here so be gentle!

This place has a bit of something for everyone. Here's the thing. I really, really try to stay positive because reasons! Let's focus, for a bit, on what you're most proud of. Is it something job related? Is it a personal accomplishment? Let's hear it and let's support each other!

I'll go first.

Getting over my fear of talking to people. Talk about horrific! For years, I just couldn't stand in front of a group of people. I'm talking groups of three! I'd freeze up, sweat, and practically pass out. But over time, I was able to get over it and it's changed my life! I love meeting and talking to people now!

Keep it going!
My children and sticking to my values as a man.
