She would be like a younger Bernie Sanders -- only not coming in from outside the Democratic Party to seek its nomination. And she probably would make the best POTUS since FDR.
 
America has never elected any sitting member of the House of Representatives to be President. We've elected Senators and governors, generals, business men, and a con man, but never a Representative. AOC is not going to be the first.
 
Surely there is a more divisive candidate out there. It's in Americas interest to continue running candidates we can vote against instead of ones we can vote for.

It's in America's interest to go social-democratic if not socialist. As a first step, we need a POTUS who seriously wants that. At least AOC is a DSA member.

Making AOC the Presidential candidate for the 2028 election is an awesome idea for the democrats, but especially for the Right.

They may as well just hand the Presidency to the Republicans at that point. 🤭😄

I think the democrats actually hate the idea of a woman President. That's why they keep picking the worst possible candidates that are an embarassment to women and don't have a chance of winning.

The sheer irony that a good example of a female candidate for the Presidency is Tulsi Gabbard, which the democrats chased out of their own party and she became a Republican. 🤭😄

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has been working to defeat Squad member Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s plans to become the top Democrat on the powerful House Oversight Committee in the new Congress. Ocasio-Cortez is reportedly seeking to become the ranking member on the House Oversight Committee, the Daily Mail reported. The 35-year-old congresswoman would have to defeat Virginia Rep. Gerry Connelly, who has served in the House since 2009, for the position.

While Pelosi is no longer leader of the House, the veteran congresswoman, who has been in Congress since 1987, still holds a great deal of power within her party and has publicly backed Connolly, who is 74. She has reportedly been making calls on behalf of Connolly behind the scenes, as first reported by Punchbowl News.

Ocasio-Cortez said earlier in December that she was speaking with colleagues before finalizing her bid. Connolly announced days after the presidential election that he had been diagnosed with the rare esophageal cancer, and while be would be undergoing chemo treatments, he was confident that he would get the spot.

Whoever holds the ranking position come the 2026 midterms could hold massive power if the Democrats are able to flip the House in 2026. In the House Oversight Committee, Rep Jamie Raskin currently holds the ranking member position but is seeking the top Democrat spot in the House Judiciary Committee, where Ranking Member Jerry Nadler has stepped aside and thrown his support behind Raskin.

It doesn't appear that she has enough support in her own party for a chairmanship let alone the Presidency.

Bernie Sanders is an incompetent old fool, a populist of the left as Trump is of the right. In 40 years in the Senate his only legislative achievements were the re-naming of two post offices in his State. The Democrats allowed this smug moron to parasitize their party to their immense cost. Never loyal, unless it temporarily suited his personal convenience, his greatest failure (among many) was personally obstructing all the younger D talent in 2020 Primaries. If AOC wants a greater career, she needs to head for the centre and to get herself in the Senate. Even with that she would not be a factor for elevation until at least 2040.

The D candidate in 2028 will likely be a white male 45 to 55, a Governor or Senator; centre right on economics, centre left on social issues. He will divorce himself from Corporate America and favour a tax regime which favours the people who actually vote for him rather than the 1%. Any D candidate who elects to suck on the teat of Corporate America rather than the people who vote will be obliterated.

Politruk, try not to be so naive: "Progressive" candidates do not get the top job - ever.
