The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

So far so good, but I’m only on my first cup of coffee 🤣☕
Well, I managed to finally get some made at 10:40am... right before a waste of time meeting.

All I can say - people around here best be glad I'm not in charge of hiring/firing certain staff. Or a certain someone would be out on their 🍑 today!! 🤬 Sure wish mgmt would get wise to the fact that this person does not know how to do their job and is causing problems for everyone around them and everything they touch!!!

That is all... back to :coffee: time 😁

So here’s the Paul Harvey on yesterday. The wife and I wake up and drive 60 miles to IKEA to buy a new dresser. After much discussion we pick out the one she thinks will work best for me (it wasn’t even in my top 3 choices). We pay and load it in the vehicle. We stop at the local mall to window shop and grab some lunch then we drive home. After unloading it we start the assembly process. This will test any marriage. At the 70% complete point we realize that the backs for the drawers are improperly drilled. We call IKEA and they tell us we can return it for a refund, or the replacement parts will be sent to us in about 14-21 days (I need the dresser on Wednesday). So we load it up into the van, as is - partially assembled and drive the 60 miles back to IKEA. We get there, unload, take it in and get the refund. Now we go to get my first choice. We go to the appropriate row/bin and that’s now what’s there. No I’m starting to get pissed. - To be continued.

Continuation - We go to the self serve kiosk and it’s in a different row/bin than what’s in the ticket. We go there, and there are none in stock. I get an employee involved and he can’t find one. Now they are getting ready to close and I’m on my third option. We finally get it, pay, load it, and drive the 60 miles home. We get home and I’m fucking exhausted. It’s still in the back of the van waiting for me to assemble it tonight.

Yeah - IKEA tends to be an all or nothing gambit
But let me know if you're in the market for already-assembled bookcases. 😁

Gift cards, Amazon, visa, amex.... I even gave grocery store cards when prices started rising.
Right? They tend to go the easy route (for them) with the pizza or a trip to the dollar store for a cheap piece of <redacted> where the gift bag costs more than the gift. Ridiculous IMO!

ETA:
Heck - give me an extra hour off the books to leave early one day. Even that would be preferable

I worked at a company that would give you an hour's pay, but then it was taxed, so you got about a third of what you thought you were gonna get

Years ago supervisors had discretion to release staff early. Typically used as a reward around the holidays. They rotated through staff to keep the office running. You still put 8 hours on your timecard, but that day before the holiday you might have been allowed to start an hour late or leave an hour early.
I think the federal HR rules may have stopped this practice??
Either that or someone did a naughty while they had an on-the-job alibi??? 🤨
