The Department of Government Efficiency (aka DOGE)

OECD puts US public sector employment at 17.6%

Germany 15.3%
Canada 22.4%
UK 22.5%
Mexico 13.5%
France 28%

Federal civilian staffers only represent 4% of the federal budget, so the easy answer is cutting staff is a symbolic gesture at best.

The federal gov has the same number of employees as 50 years ago.

If anything, government has shrunk.

No. They redefine and grant. Nice try though. busybody or BB would have took the bit and run though...

The Soylent Solution

It will be, like the frog gradual. On Dune, you harvest for water, but on Earth, we need dirt, fertilizer...

The Water World Solution

Because Trump will make the waters rise with the command of his staff!
His yacht floats huger, higher, more boldly, where no dictator has gone before..., These are the Voyages of the Starship Elonprize...

They nonetheless believe they can cut federal overspending by “taking aim at the $500 billion plus in annual federal expenditures that are unauthorized by Congress,”

🙄

“Leon” and “The Swamy” are two seriously stupid fucks.

The “annual federal expenditures that are unauthorized by Congress” are largely “unauthorized” due to a technicality: THE "UNAUTHORIZED" EXPENDITURES WERE POPULAR (Things like The VA, etc) WITH BOTH PARTIES IN CONGRESS, SO THEY PASSED WITHOUT GOING THROUGH THE FORMAL APPROPRIATIONS APPROVAL PROCESS.

It will be hilarious when “Leon” and “The Swamy” start becoming aware of their own profound intellectual limitations outside of their chosen fields as EVERYTHING about how government ACTUALLY operates has to be explained to them (spoon fed to them).

😑

👉 “Leon” and “The Swamy” 🤣

I was struck by the same number of federal employees as 50 years ago.

Which is true.

Of course the number of Contractors has exploded.

Gov/ for profit contractor/non profit contractors consumes 40% of gdp.

It's a convertible.

He locks his keys in it constantly.

With the top down . . . .

That's what I said. Smoke. Mirrors. Lies.

Exactly, automation makes it possible to waste the taxpayers money with fewer people.
There is nothing the federal government does that we would be better off without, and nothing the states or the private sector could do better.

What can you do with someone whose entire experience is a priori statement?

Then, the unassailable victim sees every difference as an attack on truth; personal assault to be dealt with harshly...

It is easy to see for all but the man shouting in the mirror. The idiot doesn't get it! I know. 11!

The separation is merely time and culture.

Stop working so hard. Stupidity should just roll off your fingertips...

Well, the executive branch has been put together piecemeal over the centuries and a lot of it doesn't make sense organizationally -- e.g., NOAA is part of the Commerce Department. It might be an improvement if somebody systematically reorganized it along more rational lines.
A lot of commerce relies on weather reporting and forecasting with aviation and agriculture being among the most obvious though there are many, many others. Though it may often seem to have been randomly organized there are (discoverable) reasons why our leaders in the past organized things the way they did.

On Nov. 5, at 5:20 p.m. ET, less than an hour before the first polls closed and when it had become clear from the exit polls that Democrat presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris was likely to lose, an attorney with the Justice Department emailed lawyers for plaintiffs in a qui tam lawsuit aimed at recouping significant losses the taxpayers allegedly incurred from a failed solar plant in Nevada. A qui tam lawsuit is when a private plaintiff sues on behalf of the U.S. Government to recoup taxpayer dollars — often alleging fraud, misuse, or theft of taxpayer dollars.

The email from the DOJ stated what plaintiffs started hearing through the grapevine as the election neared and it became clear the Harris campaign was in trouble. The email said that the DOJ intended to dismiss a lawsuit that it had previously allowed to proceed, thereby undercutting the private push to recoup significant losses for American taxpayers.

Dream.
Dream, Dream, Dream,
Dream a little dream of green...

“In addition to its struggles to turn a profit, the plant also was criticized because birds were dying in the intense heat produced by the panels. Some reports indicated that birds had burst into flames in mid-flight,” the 8NewsNow report from 2021 from a Las Vegas television station reads. “Another problem surrounded a report that workers were hospitalized after they were exposed to nitrogen dioxide — a gas emitted from the hot salt tank.”

There's a built-in safety valve in an open society. Those who would bring that caldron to boil found it more expedient to simply live elsewhere leaving those left more and more at the mercy of philosophy gone bad...

... those who are left will continue to fester and advocate more: hands out for handouts.
