Jaguar - Another Iconic Brand Consigned to the Dustheap of Woke Fuckups

F150

Rural 'Merica needs no penis substitute, just something reliable that gets the job done and can carry a load.

Half-crew cab. 4WD. Big engine. Yuge.

jaguar, like the nfl, just refused to admit that woke is not their target audience

it's the whisper of Mesmer...

Well, this looks to be a monumental fuckup, on a par with Bud Lite, except this may destroy Jaguar. Rebranding gone Woke and Insane. How to destroy a brand in 30 secs.

The firm's managing director has admitted that those likely angered by the rebrand are no longer the target market - as it seeks to attract a new, younger audience with an all-electric range of brand new models. This is just fuckup after fuckup. The firm's managing director has admitted that those likely angered by the rebrand are no longer the target market - as it seeks to attract a new, younger audience with an all-electric range of brand new models. So they've killed their existing target market for one that doesn't exist? They're going all-electric just when EV's are losing momentum, and are going to stay a niche at best.

They've killed their iconic and distinctive old logo for some totally forgettable wording.

This is going to be fun to watch as this woke retard destroys Jaguar and management enables him.

Crazy person shares a story that says corporate rebranding is “woke”, but it isn’t “woke” in any way.

Crazy Chloe is dumb and gullible. 😆

Never did like the hood ornament. And in 2000 they went through a pimp-mobile phase.

I love that Jaguar hood ornament - the old one. And the Jaguar snarly face badge. Individual tastes, I guess. The older Jags tho....

Way back in history, I dated a guy with an old XJ12. He was a dick, but the car was great. LOL.

I was also looking at an XF the other day to replace the current workmobile. Love the style, love the rear wheel drive, could leave the supercharger, but all in all, not a good upgrade because of reliability issues.

OTOH, if all I was looking for was a car to drive to church on Sunday (for the free lunch buffet) a Jag would be a great choice.

LOL the whole rebranding thing is woke to an extreme when you look at the ads.......they're targeting a non-existent market with cars they don't have with ads that are way past their relevant by date. Let us just treat this as entertainment (altho if Jaguar goes don the tubes I will feel sorry for the workers....)

How much did the burning of your jaguar set you back?

Crazy person tries to justify crazy nonsense. 👍

Try not to get so upset by moronic propaganda.

Yep. I spent a while looking for old MkII's last night and found a few - the unrestored ones can be quite cheap but basically you have to strip them right down and rebuild them. And have a truck and trailer to go pick them up with. Go figure. LOL. But yeah, having an old one in mint restored condition to drive to Church or do the mommy run in would be so cool.

I think himself would kinda look at me and shake his head and say "go get the F150, Chloe...." but dreams....dreams....lol

LOL. If I had one to burn.....

I do like the old ones tho....see post above. You wanna buy me one??? Huh huh huh pretty please.... go on, Mister, just an old one.... LOL

I just found one around $4k - that's gotta be a complete rebuild....

LOL. This has gone off on a tangent. I better stop before I raid the piggy bank and buy one. And this is the Politics Board, not the Used Classic Cars thread rotflmao

Gotcha....so Jaguar's decision has no impact on you.

Actually, a type II that's been well restored could be a very nice driver for an enthusiast if they have a good mechanic who can do more than use a computer to diagnose problems.

They're fairly simple mechanically so almost anyone can work on them. The main problem is that they're not American cars so the shade tree mechanic mindset you can use on American cars won't work for British cars. You have to understand them and get a feel for how all the different systems work. And then upgrade the critical parts in those systems with modern replacements that look, and more importantly function, exactly the same without the problems the original parts have.

Fuel pumps are a prime example; the factory ones use a double contact points-style breaker to activate the pump motor. Like ignition points, it will eventually fail and leave you stranded. You can upgrade to an electronic pump but the pump body is plastic (and therefore sucks) which will crack and fail, leaving you stranded. Happily, the components will mix n match together so you can have a modern electronic motor control with an original pump body. Knowing this kind of thing is how you make your British car run reliably.

I had an MGB that mi esposa put over 250,000 miles on. Multiple engine rebuilds and other upgrades kept that car on the road every day rain or shine.

None at all. Actually, woke or whatever, I hope they pull it off. Jaguar is iconic - they deserve to succeed and I wish them luck.
Yah, the free market certainly will assist them in their decisions.

But it's good to yell about shit too.

Am I right?

This is not Jaguar's first marketing disaster; in fact their origin was as a marketing disaster. Their original holding company in 1934 was called Swallow Sidecar so they abbreviated that on their first model to SS. But considering the sinister connotations of SS. in the late 1930's they soon dropped that for Jaguar.

I have a 1953 Bristol 403, much prettier than a Jag, hotter and much classier too.
Bristols were for the folk who were too posh for a Rolls. Didn't they used to vet any prospective purchasers to see if they met the required standard? No Kensington shopkeepers allowed (as in, Harrods).

We used to have a Mark VII when we were kids, then my mum bought a new XJ6 in 2006, it rusted away and went to the scrapyard in 2019.

That new logo looks like it's for a Swedish laminate flooring company, but Jags are for old duffers wearing flat caps but I suppose they need to appeal to the sports star/drug dealer/social influencer market nowadays.

‘Bud Light 2.0:’ Jaguar Blasted for Ad Featuring Crossdressers but Not Cars

Jaguar is being blasted on social media for its ultra-woke commercial featuring androgynous models and not even a single car, with conservatives dubbing the ad “Bud Light 2.0.” The Jaguar commercial, which was posted to the car company’s social media on Tuesday, showed only androgynous individuals clad in bizarre attire that would hardly fit in at a fashion show. The advertisement also failed to showcase even one single vehicle from the luxury car company.
