Republicans don't care about policy. All they care about is owning the libs. At first they were excited about a Trump victory because they wanted to bathe in the sweet, sweet liberal tears. But they can only say "Suck it, Loser!" so many times before they start realizing how empty and hollow their victory is.

Trump's going to fuck up the country because he's fucked up everything he's ever been in charge of.

And MAGA knows that when he does, everybody will blame them. They'll never live down voting for him.

I suspect it’s because they DO know they’ve lost in some truly significant tangible ways:

1) Progressive referendums did quite well.

2) DonOld and the MAGAt republicans ran on populism and accommodating / serving the needs of the poor and the working class - and now they have to deliver. (This applies to delivering on their promises to bring about world peace as well.)

3) They know DonOld and the MAGAt republicans are incapable of governing effectively in service of ALL Americans, and that a shit show is inevitable once they take over in January, 2025.

4) They know DonOld and the MAGAt republicans’ “empty promises” policy platform is a non-starter, and that there is no way for them to “win” without losing. (That happens when conmen sell contradictory / counterposing promises / solutions to everybody.)

The thing for me, and what has really lifted my mood, is to take a step back and realize that, for the majority of them, they are losing life. Voting dem was a way to lift everyone up so that they wouldn’t drown.

But now, and for the foreseeable future, we have definitive proof that they don’t want to be lifted up, they just want to pull everyone who was able to climb higher back down to their level. It wasn’t just electoral college shenanigans that got Trump in this time. It was an open referendum between “keep the lights on” and “burn the house down.” And they chose to burn the house down.

My view now… let them drown, let them burn, and when they say that they’ve learned and beg for us to save them, tell them to fuck off.

Now that it’s clear that people emphatically don’t want adults in the room, they’re gonna go full tilt the other direction. And they’ll have learned that it really, really doesn’t matter what the other side says or thinks about you. Just keep pushing propaganda and you’ll be right enough. Well, I’ve never really given an any real shit on what magats think. They can own me all day long, I’m still fucking up most of them up in terms of health, wealth, and general predicted outlook.

The truth is that we’re all rumbling towards a world where government is going to need to get more unified. I had hoped it was the dems, because they overall let you do whatever you want so long as you pay taxes. Easy and convenient. Under the repubs, aggressive authoritarianism will intrude on every aspect of your life, making it impossible for ambitious people to live their life without kissing up to crown. It’ll be a contest of who can kiss up the best, with the power and prizes awarded to the ones who are most servile.

But that’s the world ordinary people want. They’d much rather have the boot on their neck than a ladder to climb. So, for the foreseeable future, it’s time for the grownups in the room to remember that being the grownup actually doesn't mean acting a certain way, but to that it instead means applying logic and long-term thinking. Our species cannot survive with magats dragging progress into a dark age. These people would rather poison their own children than open a book.

I cynically hope the MAGAt republicans win the house so they (and PB MAGAts, & average MAGAts elsewhere) can’t blame the failures of DonOld and their policies on the Democrats.

I think the country needs the Republicans to win the House. As you said, if the Democrats win the House, Trump will blame every problem on them.

The only way for America to ever get over voting for clowns is to fully experience the results of having clowns in charge (again).

It’s also possible the Republicans will do a great job and the nation will thrive. That would be terrific but I have zero belief that will happen.

It's not a comfortable moment for MAGAts; ask any one of them where I live. There's a massive sense of dread of becoming persona non grata pretty much everywhere.

It takes a special kind of stupid to not see that coming, but they've been conditioned.

They will be ostracized, and it will get worse for them as time goes on.

But don't blame me; I voted for democracy. And, as a result, I'll never have to worry about or endure the discomfort they're going to.
