Actually it still totally works. Until a trump presidency does something that isn't horrible or vile or a massive failure, it totally works. And the first four years certainly didn't give any indication the next four won't be just as awful.This didn’t age well…

Because Trump both embodies and encourages/validates all that is evil in the American national character -- greed, dishonesty, arrogance, racism, sexism, misogyny, xenophobia, American exceptionalism, religious bigotry, producerism, etc., etc. These things are simply bad, and there is no room for debate. And their is no room to debate their obvious presence and motivating importance among the redhats.
You can't dismiss the relevance and importance of all that by making an argument for supply-side economics, or anything on which differences of opinion might be reasonable and both sides at least arguable.
