Kemi Olufunto Adenoke Badenoch was elected a few days ago as the new leader of the UK's Conservative Party. She is a black woman, engineer/lawyer of Nigerian background, 44 with 3 children. She is therefore the alternative to the Socialist Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer. Given that her three female predecessors, Margaret Thatcher, Theresa May and the lamentable Liz Truss all became Prime Minister, her chances are good. Comparisons with Donald Trump are interesting, especially as it seems likely that no woman will be on the US Presidential ticket for at least a couple of cycles. Women in the USA took a huge hit politically on Tuesday, running counter to trend in most civilized nations, particularly in the dwindling number of democracies.

Her first meeting with Trump will be interesting. Provided her high heels are higher than those of the shrinking Don's she will be able to look down on him. He is a populist, she a libertarian and further to the right. She is younger than some of Trump's children and 95% of Congress; in contrast she has a reputation for honesty, but they both have volcanic tempers.

Interesting that in the UK all the female leaders have come from the Conservative party.
