I'm thinking it's not as easy as I thought it would be to always comment on the top thread in the What's New>New Posts list when I first log in. Yesterday it was a thread that was all in German. Exactly, the people I chat with here are great people. I don’t want to know about their thoughts on politics. I don’t care about it and I don’t want to talk about mine.

There are plenty of other places to go for that.

Please do report such content, although the site owners are the only ones doing admin/mod work in those forums and it can take them a long time to get to it. I highly recommend using the ignore feature liberally over there and let the dregs of society scream into a void.

Politics used to be a huge part of the General Board. Laurel split off the politics board to give folks a dedicated place for that content. Many at the time were opposed to the decision, including me, but now I have to say that I’m really glad it’s somewhat contained.

I generally don’t go over there. A thread had a title that piqued my interest and I think I reported a post within 10 seconds of being in there . Turned myself right around and ran back here.

That makes the most sense. What’s offensive to one person is not offensive to another. The mods don’t need to be getting into the middle of all that.

Also people have a tendency to use the report feature for retaliation hoping to get people they don’t agree with banned. It’s just a toxic fucking mess.
