What's the plot device to make it worth reading?

Giving up after 10 days means it's not an obsession. That's not even enough time for the wife to warm up to it. Just means the fantasy isn't as efficient as he thought it would be once he really started thinking about it.

I'm kind of getting the sense that English isn't the OP's first language, and that he means "live out his fantasy"
