The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Mid Atlantic colloquialism for a juvenile Red Drum. You may have heard them called Red’s or Redfish or plain ol’ Drum (there is a Red and Black species). In our neck of the woods they’re heavily regulated. You can only keep one in the “slot” 18-27”, anything over that you can’t keep. Over 27” are know as Bull Drum. You can only posses one a day (of the in the slot fish.)

Clean up the “estate”🤣 yesterday, helped my mother bake the nut cakes for the holidays, played with the granddaughter, sat by the fire last night (finally cooled off), and going to watch the F1 race and cook again for the tribe tonight. A weekend well spent! Hope y’all had as relaxing and nice of one as I!

Collie corralling MZ!

Sounds like a great weekend HDH! All the good things in life. Fishing, family and fun!

It went well. They were running behind so it was a little late but, just be kind and be patient and everything will work out. It took five sticks to get my IV. I finally said stop going for those little squiggly veins underneath my skin that you see, because they are difficult to get look in my a n t e c u b e s. They took me in the room had to go on to my left side, I got warm a little dizzy, and the next thing I know she was saying honey you ready to go. Apparently, the doctor talked to me and I answered appropriately. I don't remember any of it. My dad was in the room but who knows what he said. He is deaf and doesn't understand medical stuff. I did tell them when I talked to him that I was concerned because sometimes it felt like I couldn't swallow and that food would get stuck, he said that if there was a stricture he would stretch it while he was in there, and I was like okay. My stomach is normal my duodenum was normal but he did do a biopsy at the esophageal gastro juncture. But may not be the exact word but you get the drift. I guess it's erythematis. I'm on protonix twice a day, and then I have to follow up. I'm so close to have lost 50 lb
Hope they can figure this out k.

Hope your doc will be able to talk to you live to give you the detailed results.

I like the fall schedule (Standard Time) better also. I wish they’d just leave it on this. It fits more with my biological time piece…
I’m exactly the opposite. I like it light longer. I like to get up early.

I hate having to wrap up working outside early this time of year. Then when I get inside, it feels like it’s time for dinner, and it’s only 5.

Plus sometimes I get that sad - seasonal effective disorder. I def do not like the shorter days.

Not a fan.

@BlackSatinKnight 7 week long headache
Truly awful!! Are you familiar with Rebound Headaches? Think they're now called "Medication Overuse Headaches". When I was in this vicious cycle, I was having 23 migraine days a month. My neuro had me quit all NSAIDs and OTC headache meds cold turkey. While I dealt with that issue, they battled with insurance to get Botox treatments covered. So far, it's the only treatment I tolerate and respond to for keeping migraines controlled. But I also have several lifestyle and diet changes that go hand-in-hand with those treatments. There's typically a lot of steps in between. A good neurologist can help guide you through. 🤗 Hope you get relief - soon!!
In Thursday I had a refit with the VA for my CPAP. I got a new mask (I’m a side sleeper and I couldn’t maintain a seal in my other mask). Right now, 3 nights into it, I seem to be better. However, I haven’t been at work in front my monitors all day. We’ll see how it goes tomorrow. The other factor is my previous optometrist screwed up my prescription for my glasses, now I have a new pair from a different eye doc and glasses lab. They see to have helped a bit as well. Maybe it’s just baby steps, finding all the interrelated issues instead of one major issue.

Spent the evening fixing the laundry sink faucet. Drove the 12 miles to the hardware store, which happened to have a replacement cartridge. Get it in, and it leaks! 🤬

Took the old one, which didn't turn on, apart and greased it with silicone grease. Good as new! So good, that I took the other valve apart and greased it too...

Why are we buried with substandard import crap. Clearly the replacement was bad out of the box!

Just ordered a tube of food grade silicone grease for the other faucets (for this one, just used the grease on hand. Automotive grade). I guess 7 years is all you get out of a new house before stuff starts falling apart.

You would be amazed. Nothing lasts as long as it use too. Newer items are so cheaply made and shoddy that you call to complain and it's not worth them taking it back, or there's a restocking fee of 10-20%.

I rebuilt a shower faucet that I told the customer I thought I'd replace. I took it apart and looked at the old solid brass housing and went and bought new stems for it. Why take that out and put in some sorry-ass POS "new" one that sucks and will crap out in short order??? Some of the new valve bodies are plastic, FFS.

Exactly. And the lifespan is 3 or 4 years.

H
Starbucks is too bitter
IMO most coffee shops make horrible coffee. They over roast their beans and run everything through too fast hence the bitterness. If you're looking for a really good cup of black coffee? A few decades ago I would have said golden arches but in general I find a greasy Diner is your best bet.

Hi Litsters. Just now coming to this thread. This evening I’m sipping on a manhattan.
Hi Bayman. Welcome!

Altho lit is a sex site, this is a pretty sexless thread and we conduct ourselves a bit differently here than most of the rest of Lit.

Post #1 introduces the joint... and glancing back over the last 10-20 pages provides additional context.

To be clear:

1. No religion 2. No politics 3. No drama 4. This isn't a hook up thread with members of our cafe.

Everyone is welcome but we are pretty protective of the vibe we’ve created here. It’s a lot like a bunch of regulars who hang at a coffee place or a bar like cheers.

This applies to all who visit this thread.

If this feels like a good match, welcome... if not there are a ton of threads on lit.

Like the greasy spoon??? 😀

Oh, I know all too well. We bought higher end fixtures, yet these are still failing.

One toilet flapper started leaking this week too. Ordered a replacement for that.

Freezer circulation fan died. Igniter on the dryer. Well pump (wire shorted to case 3 times. Bad wire, but COVID supply bottleneck meant no replacement wire), finally the pump this summer. I keep a spare well pump ($1800), and controller ($350) on hand. Put the spare in, and ordered replacement. Heat pump control board, bad design (I did a failure analysis on that one. Parts running out of spec.). And the water heater flammable vapor safety sensor.

Can't wait to see what is next!

(I sound old and crotchety, don't I? 🤔)

I had breakfast with my daughter. We met at a nice cafe and bullshitted all morning.

Then we visited my mom (her gran) and had a lovely visit. Some lovely fudgy brownies were brought. After consuming like three of them, I asked her how she liked them.

“They’re awful.” She replied with a mischievous smirk. 😏

Some things I “learned” from my daughter today.
- Elvis was not rock n roll. He was a pop singer. (Sorta true??)
-AC/DC is the original rock band. (Ok, everyone is entitled to an opinion)
-Samoa is not a place.

Who is this kid??? Bad parenting? 😂

You sound prepared!!

And able to fix shit.

Two good traits.

I would not want to live in PA during election season.

Even in Jersey we’re getting a metric fuck ton of political commercials. My wife and I have been recording stuff we want to watch since Friday. (I am watching the giants game now - no spoilers! 😂)

Interestingly, I have not gotten text or mailer…
No tv solves the 🦁 share
Mailers started arriving after I voted 🤣
