Hi Folks

I have a story that has been pending since 10/23. Not sure if there is something wrong, or if it is reviewers are behind.

Anything I can do to verify it is submitted properly ? My first attempt was reviewed in a day.

Thanks

It just takes time. Once you've published a few stories, it gets faster. I've got over 70 and some of my longer ones still take a week or more.

As long as it says 'pending' you're fine. Sometimes it just takes longer. It's not an automated process and it requires an actual human being to look at the story. Sometimes there's more work than others. I get feeling impatient; I always look forward to seeing new comments from a new chapter.

The waiting process can be tough, but patience truly is a virtue at Literotica. Hopefully it will go up soon...🤞

New and newish writers' stories tend to take longer, in any case.

Welcome to the wide world of author angst, BTW! I hope you enjoy your writing as much as the readers do. As a suggestion, if you're planning on posting here again, you may want to put a link in your signature to your stories - increases attention and such.

10/23 was the last submission day for the Halloween story contest, so I imagine they were prioritizing those to get all of the entries through. And that flood of event stories may have caused other ripples in the upload schedule. 5 days isn't at all unusual of a wait, either, even without a contest to account for.

Just keep an eye out on the pending tab. The pending icon is good. Pending means it hasn't gotten rejected. When it gets approved it will turn to an orange "new" icon. Then you need to look at the date when it will go live.

Why doesn't it go live immediately? No idea. Most likely they're spacing stories out throughout the week?

And yes unfortunately established authors seem to get priority since we're a known quantity. Also volume of stories in each category might have an effect on wait times.

Hi All

So I submitted a new story on 10/31. This morning it is still pending, but the date now says new 11/3. Does this mean it is approved and will be published 11/3 ?

The other still says pending 10/19

Another consideration which affects the review time is with the site managing their "product."

Literotica is a website which makes its money to pay for this "free" service by selling ad space. We write stories and they publish our stories to attract "clicks" from readers. So, when it comes to spending their time to review and approve the next stories to go live, there's probably some thought by the reviewers that they need and want a percentage of their efforts going to populate stories across the various categories.

Imagine a worst-case scenario if they had a day where the queue was stacked with four hundred stories written for ONE low-viewed category, such as "Reviews & Essays". Should they dutifully go down that list in order? Or would they jump to the end of the queue to find other types of stories which would better feed their reader's desires?

I would guess they somewhat prioritize which stories in the list to review next based on their need to populate each category.

Based on my experience and the experiences of others, its common for your first ever submission to be reviewed relatively quickly. Subsequent submissions then often take considerably more time.
