Hoping to Get Clarification re: Republishing Stories Here Published Elsewhere

I hope I'm in the right section of the forum as I ask this question. If not, my apologies. I'm a newbie.

I'm trying to get clarification about republishing a story here that I've published elsewhere. I had thought I'd read somewhere in the FAQs that you can do that if you don't point back to the other site where you previously published.

What I'd like to do, if it's permitted, is to republish a story I published earlier on another site, with no reference to that site, of course.

I cannot prove that I wrote the story in question, though I definitely did so.

I'll be grateful for assistance. Thanks in advance to anyone who may provide some answers.

Do you still have access to the account on the other site? When someone had a question elsewhere, I was easily able to have them send a message through here and reply to it to prove it was my story and I'd approved its publication elsewhere. Or, if you have some sort of social media account associated with that other account, then you could use that for the same purpose.

That's only if it's necessary, however. There is no prohibition about posting something here that you've previously posted elsewhere. ( or vice/versa ) Odds are it's not even going to blip in the normal submission process. The only way you're likely to have a problem is if someone who reads on both sites recognizes the story, doesn't recognize the pen name you use here, and reports it as plagiarism.

Thank you very much. This is very helpful. I closed that other account, so don't have access to it any longer. I had thought that when I submit the story (a series, actually) here, if that's allowed, I'd include a notice to the Literotica moderators that it was previously published elsewhere under a different name, but I really have no proof that I'm the author, though I am the author. Maybe I'll try that route and see what happens! Grateful to you.

If the account's closed and the previous version is no longer even available, someone's going to have a hard time suggesting it's plagiarism. LOL "This is a story I read once somewhere else. It's not there any longer but I swear it had a different author!"

I wouldn't put any kind of moderator note on it. That feels like protesting too much unprompted, which will look unnecessarily suspicious. Just submit it. You know it's your work, and there's apparently nothing other than possibly someone else's word to suggest otherwise.

Thank you for these helpful suggestions. I definitely appreciate them and appreciate you for taking time to respond to my query.

Submit it to Literotica, but in the Notes to Admin section, advise Admin that the story was first published on another site (you can name it of you want, its in the Notes so it's not going anywhere), you are the actual author and you are advising for reasons of transparency. Or something like that. You could also put an authors note at the start of the story (without naming the other site) advising that the story has been previously published elsewhere and you are the original author - that should short circuit the odd person reporting it as plagiarism if you do it right upfront.

Thank you so much. That's very helpful and clear. Great people at this site, I'm finding.

I started posting on SexStoriesPost.com... then XNXX's sexstories.com, where I republished much of the content... and then I came here for a bigger audience.

I haven't had any issues.

I don't think it's really an issue unless you enter a story in a competition - if it's for a competition it's supposed to be original, which is fair enough.

What you do see sometimes is people copying someone story of another site and then posting it as theirs. That's shy it's maybe a good idea to do that disclaimer up front.

I post stories on another site as well but I use the same userid and avatar. A couple of people have asked but it's not like its an issue

Lit doesn't do any checks for existing versions elsewhere, and the original account is closed anyway. I assume that means it's no longer available on that site as well. If that's the case, even if someone says they've seen it somewhere else under another author's name, there's nothing to point to as "evidence". Doesn't feel like a report that would be acted upon even if it was made. If the bar for sending a story back for a plagiarism accusation is just somebody's word that they've seen it before, that's a recipe for disaster and a nuclear weapon for trolls.

That's why I said to just submit it without any notation about it having existed elsewhere previously. Not much point in calling something out if there's little to no chance it's ever going to matter.

If by chance it's still available on the old site despite the closed account, then there's a little more danger of it being reported and the report getting some action, but still...

Thank you. I appreciate both of you for responding and giving me good advice. I do think the story is still accessible on the internet by searching, though the account at that site is closed.

Thank you. That's really good to hear. I appreciate the feedback.
