Not THAT Oz where some of you are from.

In the new Nightwish track, Sway, there is this bit:

Sway over the mountaintops
Soar ovеr the swaying crops
Adorn your garden with
A perfеct day
Sway over the discontent
Ghost stories in a tent
Your house lands on the witch
See yourself

Great song sung well by Floor Jansen, but it seems really obscure to toss that bit into a symphonic rock song from a band from Finland.

Apparently some countries don't have much of their own movie industry and import a lot of American stuff. I worked with a Finnish guy who knew more about American comic books than I did despite having a fifth as much time in the US.

The really wild thing is that a lot of African authors write in English because their native languages don't have as much or any publishing industry.

Wizard of Oz is pretty global. It was even rewritten by a Russian who passed it off as his own work; many eastern Europeans think Baum was a copyist as a result!

I remember a really funny episode of 'The Drew Carey Show' back in the 1990s where the characters were all dressed as Wizard of Oz characters for Halloween - Drew (Lion), Oswald (Scarecrow), Lewis (Tin Man), Kate (Dorothy), Mimi (Wicked Witch of the West), Mr Wick (Wizard)

I've read quite a few of Nightwish's songs. Their lyrics are often abstract as hell.
