The concept of working together for the good of the patient and give and take is lost these days..... I always did personal care on females for my guy rn friends if they asked.... that gained me loyalty and if I had problems or needed a guys strength (physical or other ways) they were always willing to step in to help. These days it doesn't work that way
That is fair. Especially from the strenght perspective and the comfort of the patient. I did have a female therapist after prostate surgery and other proceedures includeng rectal exams from female NPs and on and on. My grand father would not have a hernia operation because he did not want nurses to see him naked I presume. Times change.

I agree with some of your points. I was personally delighted to wear scrubs. They're way more comfortable. And less worry about spills or god-knows-what getting on them.

I do agree with you on the charting. Computerized charting was supposed to make it easier on the nurse and free up time for patient care. I hadn't found that to be the case by the time I retired.

One of the good things unionization brought to the bedside nurse was getting paid for the work we did. However, moving into a salaried position made it harder to prioritize self. I constantly worked on that, mostly unsuccessfully.
I worked in the computer/industrial automation field. When you in the hospital anymore you are bar coded when you check in! LOL

An Ophthalmologist is a medical doctor. An optometrist is not. My husband always went to an optometrist before me.

Today was a perfect dilation day. Raining and overcast. I, alas, missed my appointment. It was rescheduled for December. With my luck, it will be the sunniest day of the year! 😖😖
Bummer L. Sorry it didn’t work for you. I hope you have the perfect PNW day for your next one.

I had a dr appointment today but then had truck trouble on the way. I missed my appointment and was kind of freaked out by the time I got home. I hate it when the vehicles have trouble. I don't know how to fix that. 😤😤😤
I always feel the same when that has happened.... I have a mantra...I can't fix it but someone can..... it is hard to do things by myself, but I CAN do it.....

Scrubs are more comfortable.... I will give you that

Sorry that happened to you Lilly. 🙁

Yeah, when stuff like that happens, I get all angry and freaked out too.

I’m glad you could reschedule it tho.

I think all in the approach. Maintain modesty and professionalism and it will get you through

Low dose steroids is an option for some. Unfortunately for me, I'm not good with any amount. 😖

I hope you find your solution.
What happens on steroids?

I do not want to go on them. Am not functional without something anymore.

Basically, allergies are triggering system wide inflammation. Working with multiple Dr to figure it out. Pretty sure it's a mold endemic to the area. Three seasons of the year are bad. Snow covers it up.

Learned on vacation last week, If I leave the area (far enough) it goes away.
For various reasons, can't leave permanently yet. Basically need to get through a few more years. Then figure out what to do...
