Have I got a challenge for you this week. Thanks to @Love_Is_Blonde for the idea. Let’s make this week a week of learning.

Teach Me

This can go a couple directions but I’d love if a few people do some training this week on how they have captured certain photos or maybe how they edited them. Some people are incredibly talented and experienced with it and some just like snapping a quick pic and moving on.

Take this week to push yourself. Ask questions. Maybe try reproducing an image you’ve seen or a style you like.

Don’t forget to walk that fine line of thirsty but polite. And stay Chaotic

Picsart is a great one that allows for so many fun filters and effects. It is pretty robust and fairly easy to use.

What I’ve learned from the great master @Indie is the key to a great booty shot is taking a video and screenshotting the frame you like best. It sure beats setting a timer and trying to leap into the pic before it’s taken. Also, I must give @morelikeasong credit for inspiring this pic

I have fairly mediocre editing/manipulation skills but wanted the pic below, I posed the front image about 10 times till it matched the back one

In the spirit of exhibition helpfulness, here is a brief tutorial on how to make silhouette style pictures. Fair warning, the example link has my dick in it.

Start with an especially bright background and place your object in front of that bright light. This can be an open window, the sun, or any spot that is exceedingly bright. Some of you can adjust your cameras aperture to be more open and allow more light in.

After taking your picture, these often look really good as black and white pictures. Use your phone or computer to filter it to a black and white style picture and adjust the contrast to make the silhouette pop out even more between the light and the dark.

Lastly, post it here for everyone to enjoy and compliment you on a job well done.

I’m sure there are plenty of questions on this since I definitely itself did not explain everything in detail.

Nice wind chimes! The set of photos includes silhouettes taken as you describe. However this photo was taken as we played around with moving me in and out of the light and saw that the photos from this angle with the camera pointed somewhere between the light and the dark created this shadow effect we both liked. I'm posting it because so many of my favorite pictures are the result of playing around, either with the setting or with what I am supposed to be doing. Be creative!

I have to agree here. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Just work on getting a little better and don’t give up!
The pic is fantastic and I’m sure it took a fair amount of work in snapping the shot but also in editing the final result.

Be creative and have a good time doing it. If you find that the process is a chore then that will show up in your picture. But if you are enjoying the process and having fun getting doing it then, no matter the end result, you’ve had a good time.

Great info, JAF! In addition to using a voice command to take a photo, I also love a bluetooth remote shutter (photo attached). They're fairly inexpensive (~$10-15) and super easy to use. The only time I have a problem with it is when both my hands are in the photo. Sometimes I can hide it, but not always. I do like it more than the voice command, because if I am more than a few feet from the camera or my back is to the camera, the voice command tends not to work... even if I yell.

I guess my big take away is-- tape is your best friend, take those wide angle shots, and yell cheese.

At least I know that it's not just me yelling at my phone.

You made me remember this trick-- if you are trying to go for a relaxed, slightly open mouth (like made in a gasp)... blow a raspberry or make horse lips (blowing air out and your lips flap/buzz). It sounds stupid, but it relaxes face muscles and will allow you to have that perfect, relaxed "o" look.

I have also heard that saying the word "plum" leaves the lips relaxed and slightly parted, which is supposedly sexy.

Like Mizz, I often use Picsart. I have also used Pixlr.
