The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

I see it’s been a while since I posted. Life just seems to fly by. Yesterday was a quiet day really. I just got a little paperwork done before an hour or so dog training then back to cut the grass and cut back the old raspberry canes before tying in the new ones. Then it was lunch and out with the management for a couple of hours walking. Eventually I got to settle, watch a little soccer and speak to the family.

Today was the usual 5.00 am start then out on the hill with the dogs. It was a beautiful day with good guns who could shoot for a change. It started cold at -2 and clearing the windscreen, then in the sun it lifted to about 14 so it was a case of shedding clothes as the day went on.

I will finish the day on the computer prepping for a day at the desk and meetings!

Sigh....so in another thread, things got rather out of hand regarding potatoes...like serious potato centered for a few days....we laughed and suggested a name change....and it was so....and I decided..I should make an av change to reflect this grand historical pivot....and then the thread changed back....and then time passed and I forgot about this change...then one day poof....now I'm stuck with it for now.

It is an AI rendering of a potatoes logo done in the style of HOOTERS.

I think you mistake the term. It is not judged by velocity but colour! I think the medical staff in the bar will confirm that when healthy and hydrated it should be almost colourless….like my tea! 😂
Correct. I'm just being a wanker lol. Note I never said I was hydrated or healthy enough color...I pass protein like a juiced race horse but ya know...at full velocity. 🤣🤣🤣

Hello 👋

I stepped away after a couple of pictures were posted a while back of an Eagle flying off with a Beaver (Canadian) then shredding it - blood and guts - bleah! 🤮

This site has an international following so was pretty surprised by it even if it was a joke?

Completed my chore today of slathering with color any wild grey strands on my head

.......are new folks popping in this thread receiving a greeting?

I am going to scroll back and read for a bit. Cheers!

Welcome ambient.

I recall you from the poetry challenge thread. I sort of recall those pics you mentioned.

this is a pretty light hearted thread. Just friends chilling and sharing their day to day. It’s a lot like the TV show cheers. A buncha “normal” folks who share their day, break each others chips occasionally and share the highs and lows of our lives.

Most of us are over 50 but it’s not a prerequisite.

Post #1 introduces the joint... and glancing back over the last 10-20 pages provides additional context.

To be clear we have a few guiding principles.

1. No religion 2. No politics 3. No drama 4. This isn't a hook up thread or overtly sexual.

Everyone is welcome but we are protective of the vibe we’ve created.

Hopefully it’s a nice match for you.

Sometimes quiet is ok!!....

Glad the dogs are out and showing off on the hill... being good boys. I never asked are they all boys? Are boys easier to deal with then girl pups? Just preference?

All I can say to -2 is BRRRRRRR... glad the sun is shining on you...😃

Yes all being good boys and yes they are all boys. Girls have a biological function that generally kicks in at the busiest times so no girls in my kennels.

But......all my boys have their bits removed at about 18 months as they are not for breeding and it keeps their minds focused on work not girls. It has the added advantage that nobody will be knocking on my door saying ...your boy has got my girl up the duff what are you going to do about it? 😆

PS I don't know if they're any harder to train

Ah yes, the Great Bagel Debate of May '24

Which culminated in Canada's National Animal, Spike, being sicced upon a Cafe member who was saved by America's Noble National Animal. We then observed a Moment of Silence for poor, dear Spike.

How it started
How it ended

Mmm, bagels... yummy, yummy bagels 🥯 :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

My dad tried vaseline back when I was growing up. I don't recall its effectiveness, but sure it was hilarious to watch???

ETA: Here's a couple articles with some tips - likely more up-to-date than the 40+ year old methods of a simple daddy :ROFLMAO:
