Only three things of any importance at all got done:

1. Appointment of RW federal judges. Federalist Society types.

2. A massive tax cut for the rich.

3. Creation of a military Space Force.

And that's all. End of list. The Wall wasn't built, nothing was done for crumbling infrastructure, etc.

1. was regrettable by any reasonable measure. The nation will be dealing with the damage for decades.

We REALLY didn't need the tax cut. That took the country in exactly the wrong direction.

I like the Space Force on Rule of Cool grounds, but we didn't really NEED it -- we already had a unified Space Command, under the Air Force. It's only a reorganization -- the Space Force has no new hardware that didn't exist before.

So -- why does anybody expect any better out of a second Trump term? What do you think he will accomplish?

Even Republicans should regret Trump's judicial appointments. I always predicted that if Roe were ever overturned it would be an electoral disaster for the GOP -- and that is proving to be the case.

Abortion is an issue on which the swing voters are people who are morally uncomfortable with abortion, but still want the clinics to be there in case their daughters get pregnant. When abortion was a constitutional right, set beyond the reach of ordinary electoral and legislative politics, those could vote Republican without fear that would really threaten abortion access -- but now?

That is to say, they want back the time in America when a white man, at least, who had only a high-school education, could earn a middle-class income.

Of course, the reason that was possible was that labor unions were so strong, then.

I've never heard Trump say a word about bringing back unions.

It also helped that the top tax rate never got below 70%, and was often much higher. Trump does not want to restore that either

Would it be nice to see that economy restored, at least in part? Sure. Does that mean that I'm going to be a sucker for everyone promising to restore it? Hell no! Donald Trump is not the anti-politician that he claims to be. Like any politician, he knows how to sell false promises and get people to believe them.

There is a reason that people don't trust politicians and why Eddie Murphy made an easy transition from con man to Congressman in The Distinguished Gentleman. But no, Trump is a liar, just like the others, even worse.
