.............had to look up the Granada; recognized it straight away. I'll bet it was smooth. There is a big trade-off between comfort, performance and road holding in more recent vehicles. A car like your Granada would be rather enjoyable to travel in, on our country roads.....which vary widely between good and just bloody awful. Most people drive suv's and 4x4 so the poorer conditions can be conquered with relative ease. I don't like suv's and 4x4 is overkill for us now. The ute is a good all rounder and we like it a lot.

My lovely old Granada was indeed a smooth drive, just what one needs for Canada’s long and wide straight roads. I was 24 and she was my first big car , first V8, first automatic, first car with power steering. Took an age to learn just the right light touch on the steering, she had an assisted steering box very little feed back through the wheel, not like modern rack and pinion. Big old bench seat across the front, plenty of room for three. The biggest chrome bumpers I had ever seen, it was love at first sight. What with my heavy right foot and the big V8 she was a very thirsty girl, but gas was cheap and I was having fun, so who cares, not me that’s for sure. Then the fuel crisis hit and she had to go, hey oh such is life. Reminiscing to someone who understands the love of cars has been fun. Keep on motoring.
