One Republican U.S. House candidate is publicly coming out against one of former President Donald Trump's policy proposals, particularly due to its negative impact on the economy of the district he hopes to represent.

According to CNBC, Army veteran and attorney Derrick Anderson is opposed to the ex-president's plan to move roughly 100,000 federal government jobs out of the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and fire untold scores of public sector workers he describes as "rogue bureaucrats." Anderson told the outlet that he would "oppose any legislation that could weaken national security, raise the cost of living, or hurt VA-7 jobs, regardless of where it comes from."

Roughly 60,000 of the workers who would be affected by that policy live in Virginia's 7th Congressional District, accounting for a whopping 15% of its residents. CNBC reported that even more residents of the district are federal government contractors who would also likely be impacted by massive changes to the federal civil service.

now i'm not saying this guy has a spine, but he surely knows where his bread-and-butter base comes from and needs their votes

Shit!
One GOP candidate might win!

How dare anyone complain about the creation of the Deepest “Deep State”!!

“Deep State” another of their creations!

I've long suggested decentralizing Federal offices and agencies, if only to help maintain services in the event of some disaster. Even something as simple as a major snowstorm can knock Government off line for much of the country.

Candidates always promise to keep and grow jobs in their districts.
They do eh? Running Man Josh hasn’t seemed to bring home the bacon…

How was your time on the book burning tour? That job for you still intact??

VA-07 has been trending blue for a while. It is probably smart of him to distance himself from the national GOP, but I doubt if it'll be enough.

Yes. Beltway people moving south. Spanberger, the incumbent, is moving on to seek the governor post next year. She’s a savvy Democrat who played both sides well. Both candidates for this open seat are not well known. Vindman’s claim to fame is his role in the Trump impeachment over Biden’s meddling in Ukraine. It will play well in the northern part of the district. Not well with the marines and farmers to the south. Anderson is the polar opposite. He will win the military, agriculture, law enforcement and small business votes. But its demographics lean blue. He has a shot if they can get voters south of the Rappahannock to turnout.

If I was king for a day, every federal alphabet agency that had a duplicate agency at the state level, would cease to exist.
We can't afford them both, and as a basic rule of thumb, the Govt nearest you, will serve you best.

This isn't news. The district he's trying to compete in is part of the greater DC area and currently held by a democrat. That being the case he's sucking up to the constituency in an effort to compete and that's perfectly fine. But it isn't national news, it's local.

And yet an article from a news organization was the OP

Weird

Anderson fully supports P2025.

His only problem is that many of his voters will not vote for him in future. Classic self serving hypocrisy.

Confuse RINO's who are clearly in the wrong party exist......nothing new.

Hopefully he's called out and dragged until if understands that he's in the WRONG party.

It's the same sort of news as a school shooting. If it doesn't affect anyone outside of that town, don't worry.
Or gang violence, massive amounts of theft, vandalism and other assorted violence oops!! shhhhhh.... can't talk about any of that!! das wacist!!!
