My newest series is set in Australia, exploring the porn industry in a dark parody of noncon/reluctant situations. I'm wondering if any Australian natives would be interested in allowing me to bounce phrases and slang terms off them so my work will be a bit more authentic. I've tried googling, but don't really find the kind of slang and jargon I'm looking for.

Im not Australian, but I would suggest a little goes a long way with that kind of thing as a writing technique generally. Australian word usage doesn’t seem to be that different. Others may disagree, so take it as you will.

I had exactly the same need once upon a time. I got great assistance from several antipodean Litsters, and I thought they were all taking the piss; I thought there was no way any real humans in the 21st century actually talked like they told me Aussies do.

I feared I was overdoing it in my story. All the comments I got told me the dialog rang true, though, which I took as a massive compliment and a big surprise.

The courteous thing to do, OP, would be to credit your helpers in a foreword or afterword.

I'm sure @Rustyoznail will set you straight, but if you need another set of eyes from Down Under, feel free to pm me too. Thanks, mate!

I'll be happy to help out with any nuances regarding the holding the ball rule.

I see OP already has an offer of help. One thing that might be useful is looking up message boards etc. with an Australian focus, e.g. subreddits for Australian cities. This won't be quite the same as spoken language but might still help get a feel for how people usually talk.

Be aware that there's quite a range in how Australians speak. Australian English isn't quite as varied as US or UK English but it's far from uniform. If you know the social background of your characters it'll be helpful in figuring out their language.

ah but do you know the Duckworth-Lewis method?
