‘January 6 was just the warm-up’: the film that tracks three MAGA extremists storming the Capitol

Michael Premo spent months getting to know, and filming, three MAGA insurrectionists who took part in the riots. Why does the documentary-maker now think America is tottering on the brink of civil war?

Homegrown is a documentary about three American patriots who love their country, revere Donald Trump and balk at the result of the 2020 presidential election. Director Michael Premo spent months trailing his subjects – Chris, Thad and Randy – in the run-up to the attack on the Capitol building of 6 January 2021, and his illuminating, gripping film looks back at a dark period of recent US history. Implicitly, though, it also warns of further unrest.
“I think January 6th was just the warm-up,” Premo says. “This November, we’re going to see an even more frantic and desperate attempt to attack every level of the electoral system.” He is not optimistic about the US’s current direction of travel. The country, he argues, is effectively on the brink of civil war.

With an AR-15 and enough people, says Chris, we can take our country back
Homegrown premieres at this year’s Venice film festival. It is one of a number of campaigning political pictures that could put the event at loggerheads with Giorgia Meloni’s rightwing Italian government. Joining it on the programme is Separated, Errol Morris’s documentary about family separation on the US’s southern border; Dani Rosenberg’s harrowing Gaza-themed drama Of Dogs and Men; and Olha Zhurba’s Songs of Slow Burning Earth, which is billed as an audiovisual diary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Having lived through the left-wing attempt at "revolution" during the late 1960s and the 70s, I know that America does not put up with the armed revolution crap.

I agree, the right-wing J6 situation was just the warmup. But it's actually the warmup for how the prosecuters and courts will deal with those who use physical violence as a political tool. These wannabe Che Guevarras will end up in prison, whining about the conditions there.

They talk big on Lit and other forums, putting the spotlight on their location, motives, and plans. And then when they lash out, their cover is already blown. The next thing you know, they are whining about the lack of organic food in prison.

I guess we run in circles of a completely different caliber of men.

I'd NEVER heard of an "unarmed insurrection" until Nancy Pelosi got on teeeveee and told me that one had taken place. FFS

Only when needed, as I entered first grade, while reading at a 6th grade level...

Sure you did. That's why you screwed up the use of a comma, and forgot to hyphenate "6th-grade" when using it as an adjective. 🤣

Also, you didn't answer my question. Nor did you correct yourself on the definition.

You lose. Thanks for playing. 😘

Sorry that ruins your abilities in reading comprehension, Rory.

No, not big talk at all. It's simply a modest statement of truth.
The J6 "caliber of men" were convicted and locked up. The same will happen with the next caliber of insurrectionists, but the punishments will be stronger if they attack cops with guns this time.

MAGAts will either live with the results if they lose the next election or end up throwing another hissy fit.

And no, I don't run with those assholes. Just a modest statement of truth.

Negative.
How many guns were seized in the Capitol? Zero.
Dude, before you humiliate yourself further check out some links.

Guy Reffitt was also found guilty of making threats to obstruct justice, transporting a firearm, and bringing that firearm to a restricted area he refused to leave.

Jerod Thomas Bargar entered the Capitol building with a loaded weapon. Fiveyears probation, fined $4,000and ordered to pay $2,000 restitution.

John Emanuel Banuelos, told Salt Lake City police that he was at the Capitol and had been captured on film with a gun. “I was in the D.C. riots,” he told the investigators, according to a police transcript. “I’m the one in the video with the gun right here.”

Because of their lack of meaningful relationships in life, MAGAts are among the most obsessive consumers in society. Their paranoid definition of freedom is based on how many guns they can buy to keep the "others" from stealing their stuff. Promoting domestic tranquility and the general welfare, stated purposes of the Constitution, does not even enter their minds. It's just "every man for himself".

Thus, they feel justified in resorting to violence when their candidates lose in an election.

But, oh how these obsessive consumers will miss their trips to Walmart and online ordering when sitting in a prison cell.

You're hilarious!
They were caught with guns in the Capitol, but were told "That's OK, go ahead and carry it for the rest of your visit that we opened up for you."
Your assertion was that they had no guns.

That is incorrect.

And still, you're blaming someone else.

OK, you've proved your MAGAtard credentials, no need to push the point. Here's another link for you to enjoy. Explosives this time.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/ju...rged-setting-explosive-device-jan-6-rcna82564

The FBI on Tuesday arrested a Florida man who federal authorities say set off an explosive device in a Capitol tunnel during a fierce battle between Trump supporters and law enforcement officers on Jan.6.

Daniel Ball of Homosassa is charged with 12 counts, including assaulting, resisting or impeding officers with a deadly or dangerous weapon; using an explosive to commit any felony; and obstruction of law enforcement during a civil disorder.
he was convicted in connection with the incident and sentenced to five years' probation.

Five years probation for setting off explosives inside the Capital? This is how you know he isn't black.
