Will the U.S. do something similar? 🤔

Misogyny to be treated as extremism by UK government

Yvette Cooper, the home secretary, has ordered a review of the UK's counter-extremism strategy to determine how best to tackle threats posed by harmful ideologies.

The analysis will look at hatred of women as one of the ideological trends that the government says is gaining traction.

Ms Cooper said there has been a rise in extremism "both online and on our streets" that "frays the very fabric of our communities and our democracy."

In the UK there is no constitution that says you have the right to say hateful things to someone else. On the contrary, if you say out loud stuff that causes harassment alarm or distress or racial hatred you're gonna be held to account. This has been held to include teaching your dog to give Nazi salutes and leaving anti-religious cartoons in a prayer room. Also, indecent chants at a soccer game are banned.

Be nice to each other in the UK, folks. You want to be nasty? Stay in America.

Why stop with misogyny? Maybe President Harris will look into the extreme political idealism of of the PB liberals. Nah. :)

No, it doesn't. :)

Reasonable and accepting like the SDS? Extremism is ambidextrous. :)

You mean the SDS that disbanded in 1970? Over half a century ago?
Funny that you bring them up in a thread about misogyny, too: one of the biggest criticisms of SDS from the left is that they were behind the curve on third wave feminism (and have even been credited with inspiring its beginnings, as a reaction to their indifference to women's issues).

That and blowing shit up in a kind and gentle manner. Keep reading the Wiki. :)

I could tell you the same. You're talking about an organization that has been defunct for over half a century.

They didn't invent extremism. Maybe you have lost sight of the discussion at hand. :)

I think it more likely you have, since this comment is completely irrelevant to the point at hand.
You jumped in the middle of a conversation I was having with someone else...unless you have multiple accounts. :)

If she does that then surely she needs to treat Misandry the same - otherwise that's sexual discrimination which is, I think illegal?

There’s been a huge rise in violent misandry in the UK which demands attention???

🤔
Not that I know of - I am simply trying to point out that headline-grabbing actions by Government need to be better thought through or they will divide the Nation and may well fall foul of existing legislation. Nothing more, nothing less than that.

Your concerns and advice are noted…

Sounds like a personal issue you have with it. 👍
