Endless Ends

Ya know, I realized earlier, it's almost Hell Month! Otherwise known as August. *shudder*

That time of year where the constant sun drives me to blinds down mild depression. Surely there's some remedy for the lesser known variant of SAD? I should google. 🤔
Enny, I think your approach to avoiding the summer sun is holding back the progress on the outdoor work . . .

My Universal Monster NECA figure collection is growing. All I need is the Bride of Frankenstein and the Invisible Man. Trying to think of creative ways to display them.

And hi boo! 💋❤️

Some time back I posted about watching Ed Wood's, Plan Nine From Outer Space (1957).

It was . . . pretty terrible. 🤣

I mean, the Bella Lugosi stuff alone.

A couple days ago I saw Bride of the Monster (1955).

Such a different experience! I mean, still totally camp. (I am in LOVE with the octopus fights. 😂) But the movie just seemed so much better overall. Better photography, lighting, and actual 1950's plot. Totally worth the watch.

I mean, what happened, Ed?

WHAT HAPPENED

Have you seen the Tim Burton bio? They sorta explain this period. It's a great movie. It doesn't cover his sadder nude movie years though. Probably no reason to.

If you really want to get into the Ed Wood weeds check out Glen or Glenda. That's pretty classic.

I was super into Ed Wood way back when. There's a bio about him called Look Back in Angora that's pretty great. I wonder if it's still available. Hmmmm. Edit: my bad, it's called Nightmare of Ecstacy and I just got it used fir cheap. 😎

Wait. Are you saying Tim Burton did a movie on Ed Wood?

I have heard Glen or Glenda is rather a classic. I've just never gotten around to it as my tastes do so veer to the low-brow science fiction.

(I feel like I should be embarrassed about that, but, tonight, I'm just not. :p)

So, these two movies were only like three years apart? Any theory on why one had better production, and otherwise, values?

Yes he did. And it's one of my favorite movies ever. :D

Amazing cast too. Young Johnny Depp as Ed, Martin Landau as Beli Legosi. Very fun stuff.

It's more weird cult classic than sci-fi, true, but it's worth a look if you're Ed Wood diving. :p

Oh yeah, never be ashamed of stuff you like. And don't be afraid to be vocal about it too. If you like Plan 9 or Bela Logosi or bating in front of a mirror, don't be ashamed. 🤣

He was basically always scrambling for money to make his movies. The Bela stuff was cheap because it utilizes old footage they shot just prior to his death. So the movie mostly has a stand-in guy that runs around with a cape over his face. Fun stuff.

Noted. :D

Ooooh. Now I definitely have to see it.

You and this bathe in front of a mirror evolution! :p

Bela was in both the movies, though obviously just clips in Plan 9. Which confused me a little. He was full force in Bride. And the movie was just . . . so much better. The plot in Plant 9 was practically nonexistent.

I mean, like, seriously non existent, lol.

Haha Yeah Bela was fully alive for the filming of Bride of the Monster. They shot some random test footage or something before they were to film Plan 9. But they put that cheap footage in the movie and billed it as Bela's last movie. I need to watch this again. It's been forever.

Viva LA revolution! :p

Totally, you should watch them back to back. *nods*

That post was about masturbation?!?!

A rare super blue moon that won't happen again for 13 years is set to appear over the United States on Monday.

Supermoons exceed the disk size of the average moon by roughly 8% and can appear 16% brighter.

Beginning on Aug. 19, the super blue moon will reach peak fullness at 2:26 p.m. ET. Since that's daylight hours in the U.S., Americans will have to wait for the evening to see the moon slightly past its peak, while still being noticeably larger and brighter than a typical moon view.

"The lunar cycle is shorter whenever a blue moon occurs, so it signals an acceleration of life . . . It's really chopping out things and letting things go. We look at this as a time of healing and a time of breath."

I was at a very (usually) dark and secluded beach once during a super moon.
It was so bright it cast very defined shadows on the ground and we could see perfectly.
Absolutely amazing night!
