I do realize that the Harris and Trump proposals to eliminate tax on tips have some significant differences. However, why would it be a bad thing for both parties to support a similar proposal on some particular issue? The election is not a contest to come up with the most original policy ideas, and sharing of proposals that are popular with the public should be applauded, I would think.

Yes, most people seem to believe the Inflation Reduction Act created a new tax on tips. In reality, it increased resources for the IRS to be able to enforce existing tax laws better. One of those laws includes taxation of tips.
Congress has not expressed an interest in changing taxation laws in regards to tips. Certainly Harris or Trump could utilize their bully pulpit to increase political pressure on Congress to make specific changes to the tax laws which would address this.
Neither Biden nor Trump have proposed these changes during their Presidencies.

When you CREATE high inflation, crowing over how it's been reduce by 50% isn't much of a success story. Except to those too blinded by propaganda to see reality.
Or do you really believe that America is better off with $5/gal gas, tripled insurance rates, doubled housing costs, doubled food costs (plus shortages), and higher utility bills? Donald Trump's support among white working-class voters has "shrunk significantly" since President Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 race, said CNN data expert Harry Enten.The latest New York Times/Siena College poll, conducted between August 5 and 9, found that in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, more white non-college-educated voters, a group that typically favors Republicans, are backing Vice President Kamala Harris.
According to the poll, Trump's lead among the demographic has been slashed by 13 points since May, when Biden was still the presumptive candidate for the Democratic Party. In a New York Times/Siena College poll conducted between April 28 and May 9, Trump was 26 points ahead of Biden among white non-college-educated voters when third-party candidates were included—with 52 percent to his opponent's 26 percent.
Trump is now only 13 points ahead among white non-college-educated voters, with 53 percent to Harris' 40 percent when third-party candidates are included. The former president is also 13 points ahead of Harris in a head-to-head matchup. The poll had a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.

No I'm not "pleased" that the costs increases imposed upon me are less burdensome.
It's like you're asking if carrying 475 lbs on my back is better than carrying 500 lbs without understanding that hefting EITHER is excessive. Worse, it was COMPLETELY unnecessary to subject the population to such a burden in the first place.
Unless the "plan" was to do it intentionally because you knew that half the population would support it just to fuck over the other half of the population. Because TDS.

Kamala Harris Leading in Five Battleground States: Survey
Kamala Harris is leading Donald Trump in five battleground states, according to a new survey.
According to the Cook Political Report Swing State Project Survey, released on August 14, when third party candidates are included, Harris is leading Trump in five of the seven battleground states. In May 2024, Trump was leading Biden in six of the states, while he and Biden were tied in one.
The report shows that Harris is two points ahead of Trump overall across the seven states, on 46 percent to Trump's 44 percent, while she is two points ahead in North Carolina and Michigan, four points ahead in Arizona, and five points ahead in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. In Nevada, Trump is five points ahead, while they are tied in Georgia.
Across all seven states, Harris has reduced Trump's margins from May 2024. The biggest swing is in North Carolina, where Harris has wiped out Trump's 8 point lead and is now 2 points ahead, on 46 percent to Trump's 44 percent. Harris has also reduced Trump's lead in Nevada by 3 points.

The polls are swinging within the margin of error on a daily basis. Trump up today, Harris tomorrow etc.
I said it before, Harris is in her honeymoon period and THE BEST she can do is tie. Once the campaign ramps up after she's the official candidate instead of just the presumptive nominee, the poll margin swinging may change.
Like a lot of people I'm waiting to see her implode during the debate.

Is anyone awake at Google? Kamala Harris’ team has been tinkering with the search results, editing ads from major publications to make it seem like major outlets are supporting the vice president’s campaign. It’s another example of bias we’re used to, though not deployed in such a brazen and craven way. This event serves as another reminder that the Democrat media complex exists, and it’s working to stifle the will of the people. The other question is if this operation was confident in the vice president’s abilities, why are they tilting the scales like this?
