I like the Dead now more than I ever did. Wasn't much of a fan when I was younger. I have seen them twice. One of the best shows I ever saw, and the other was one of the worst shows I ever saw, but it may have been the venue, to be fair.

One of the places I saw them play was a place they said they'd never play again, so I was lucky to see them there. I wasn't able to leave state with my friends to follow a few shows because I was in college. Now I wish I would have. At this one I had a lone ticket because my boyfriend at the time didn't get me one with the bulk . I ended up hooking up with this guy that had long dreads and we weaseled our way to the front. That's when Jerry approached me to tell me he liked my hair. The guy with dreads flipped out. After the show, he was bragging to my boyfriend about it. Made my night.

So, I can see both sides of this coin. My parents purchased an old piano from a church my G-Grandfather was a member of. My grandfather would light the stove in winter to warm the church and about three sets of aunts learned to play and played this piano in this church. How my dad was able to buy this piano is a funny story in and of itself.

So they get it home and refinish it in linseed oil. It is beautiful! The problem? Nobody knew how to play it! . Until my youngest, took lessons and now bangs away.

The other side of the coin is piano’s are big. Not many people play and so when handed down, they just take up room. I have a friend who ripped the guts out of hers, hung the harp portion behind the frame, took away the ivory, and made a bookshelf out of it. Less space and it came out immaculate!

If a family heirloom i likely wouldn't paint or refinish.. but if broken down with peeling veneer missing hardware that is on side of the road i will repair. Patch holes etc and paint..... it is a case by case basis
