Too much high gloss on some. Sanding gums it.
Okay, gotcha. I use the nasty petroleum based stripper and wipe it down with acetone. Use nitrile gloves and lots of ventilation. Shit ain't worth dying over. If it's that glossy and gums paper PDQ, I don't think the latex will do much more than waste your time. The rifle stocks I did earlier this year, I went backwards from starting with stripper to just starting with 60 grit. The last one was dusty, but it was also easiest. You have something of a different nature.
