The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Where ya joining us from (geographically) if you can share?

We have a bunch of folks from around the World. A few Brit’s, a Brit living in Scotland, a few in the Midwest (is Ohio the Midwest?), a few on the east coast and a few scattered her and there.

So dumb ass move of the day.

I know I’m among friends so I can share my dumb move. After work and dinner, I decided to mow the lawn. Filled up the lawn mower with gas but forgot and had the cap on the nozzle….

So gas started leaking and pouring out and a bunch got on my pants just below my waistline. I’m annoyed. Fill the fuckin tank and decided “I’ll just mow the lawn, anyway.”

About two circuits in I’m feeling a burning where the gas spilled. Getting worse and hurting more…. Knocked out the circuit and went into the garage and stripped. Jumped in the pool and then washed it w soapy water.

I forgot how caustic gas can be. I got covered in hydraulic fluid once when I was in the army and I had to immediately wash down.

So I have a nice red welt right near my private area. It’s fine tho.

Fuels are no joke.

Just sharing.

Can I just say. I love the Brit living in Scotland part. I'd probably say the majority of people living in Scotland are Brits.

I’m a bit fuzzy on the whole Brit/english/uk thing.

So would it be more correct to say an Englishman living in Scotland?

Just seeking to understand better. Not trying (surprisingly) to be a wise ass.
So in Great Britain we have England, Scotland and Wales as the main countries. Northern Ireland are separate.

They all incorporate the United Kingdom.

Greylag is English and lives in Scotland.

We used to be part of the EU, but we have since left. Some Brits think of themselves as European, others British, whilst others are English, Welsh or Scottish.

I was disappointed to leave the EU as part of Brexit. But, I won't get into politics.

I was disappointed by Megxit. But, now I believe the two of them can do one, and stay in Cali.

I know it gets thorny… and could get us in trouble with our no politics rule.
Only politics that could get into trouble is Brexit, Scottish independence, Cornish independence or whether we should be a Republic.

You won't really care about our politics so much, but your right is a lot further right than ours, and your left isn't nearly as left as ours.

Very interesting!

I sort of knew that stuff but you articulated it far better than I ever could have.

I work in insurance and I know brexit caused us to open offices in Ireland (which is in the EU). Anyway…. On to bigger and better things.

US beat Geat Britain (not England) in rugby today at the Olympics.

Wife and I are switching back and forth between Olympic gymnastics, equestrian and the Mets beating the twins.

This gymnasts are AMAZING to watch (men and women.)
