It’s a lot different for a bunch of democrats to debate against each other, especially when they have a lot of overlapping ideas. Tulsi was a spoiler - easy to be among others of a common group.

Personally, I would like to see a constitutional republican structure, but with voting limited to those who have completed voluntary military service, but without any voting rights until their military service has been completed, on the basis that only those who have shown they are willing to die for their country get a say in how its run.

There's flaws there too but what the heck, pure democracy lasts until the masses discover they can vote themselves whatever they want, which is close to where we are now. Except that as a country that won't last either, because we're closer and closer to not being able to pay the interest on the Federal debt, and when (a) all those social programs are cut or (b) we default, whichever comes first and the way we're going one of them will, then the well will run dry and the grasshoppers will start to die and then the shit hits the fan and we restructure one way or the other.

I would subscribe to a Service to the Nation program for all able-bodied individuals, including those with bone spurs. The service would not need to be in the military but could include some forms of civic services, e.g., in-home care for the elderly, therapy for the indigent, a buddy program for veterans, school volunteer reading and math programs, or even forest ranger service. I would not tie it to voter's rights, though. That's already built into our citizenship.

Our democracy is still young. Let's not kick it in the head because someone like Trump wants to play dick-tator in the middle of an attempted coup mentality that runs through his policies like Project 2025.

Tell your neighbors about the pitfalls that lurk within a radicalized political party, you know, Trump's re-branded Republican Party where folks swear allegiance to one wannabe dictator and now a VP that is a younger version.
