Happy Sunday!!! Slept okay. Up too early. Cats are making the transition from night to not-quite-dawn. 68*/95%. Looks like the a/c comes back on later this morning. Damn it. Need to finish assembling the shooping list for the grocery run. Still on cup #1.

I was an external examiner for one of the Oxford universities once upon a time. Drove me mad, you would read answers written like text from time to time.

I think there is a time and place for both. When I am at work, I am the speech and punctuation police (for myself).

I have a dog question.... how do u stop playful sneak attacks... so if I sit on the porch steps, the neighbors puppy will jump on my back and start licking and want to play. He only does it to me...... he listens when told off, but I want to stop it before it gets there. I try to position myself so he can't do it, but he needs to learn to not do it. I dont know how to make it happen

That is always a difficult one. You are doing the right thing in positioning away from it. Second thing is don't engage. As soon as it starts just walk away and not even eye contact. Last thing, if you can get away with it, is grab the pup by loose skin on the side of the neck, a quick shake and growl low right in it's face. That is how it's mum would discipline a pup so not cruel but very effective. A low growl is largely all I use with my dogs but I am a man with a deep voice. A simpering nooo doesn't cut it lol.

The landlady inquired. I'm wondering how much we really need it. She may have been thinking that if it weren't too bad to go ahead and get one.


We put in a 3-site RV campground last summer. It's really nice - all utilities and a septic hook-up, and it even has wifi. It was an ugly saga and the county changed the rules halfway through, after we specifically asked. We bent over, paid the fees, did it right and paid the man for that, and it all turned out being twice as expensive as it should have been. Got a permanent tenant right away and have struggled to rent out the other two spaces consistently. Got our seconded long-term renter about 6 seeks ago, and the third one showed up yesterday, cash in hand. About flocking time!!!

Ok... I will try. He is not trying to do the wrong thing. He is playing like I am pack. He was the alpha of his brother and sisters.... I need to toughen up with him... he literally is pretty good. He always wants for me. I have taught him that I go out the door first (after he almost knocked me down trying to go first. And if he needs me to go somewhere he will take my hand or my shirt sleeve and take me where he wants me. Last time it was to a chair so he could lay his head in my lap for ear scratches...he is so smart....smarter than me

I growl at dogs, too. I agree, it is effective.


It doesn't work on cats, but they don't take inferior species seriously.

This is how some folks retire. The Lifer we got will probably die there, unless his kids decided to move, and then he probably won't. I think he might have a crush on the landlady. He drives her kinda batty. All in all, he's okay and he pays his rent the day he gets his cheque, and that makes him wonderful.
