No, the intent is to respect the rules of Lit and the copyrights of those who photographed or appear in the images, or otherwise own them. That iscludes websites that place watermarks of their URLs on the images.

This thread can continue with discussion and personal stories.
 
@jaF0 please help me out: Are links to these images still permissable? For example, a link and a caption? Captioning IS a form of written expression, and certainly counts as erotica, especially within the context of this thread/topic. I get that the intent here is to protect copyrights, privacy, etc., and Lit may have had this policy for a long time, but I see images going back a LONG way that are "professional," not personal, and yet there's been no pushback until recently, and mainly only on a couple categories.

Just trying to find a way NOT to get this hot, popular thread shut down, losing Lit traffic. Hope you can help me/us with preserving it.
 
OK, but you will kill this site, pictures and gifs are more than 1/2 of ALL posts including mine. I know this is “ lit” and there are many writer's sections and some discussion is taking place all over the place, yet one thread in this section has more hits and posts then a whole section dealing with “ the literature” .

I have NO idea what the mandate here is,but a picture on the internet watermarked or not and unless specifically prohibited by law is a fair game. Revenge/blackmail etc. porn is outlawed just about everywhere and I do NOT believe that there would be an idiot here who would risk jail for posting it.

Anyway, I will refrain from posting pictures unless I am authroized

Speed limits go back a long ways also, but many many people violate them without getting caught.

There are those who would prefer all picture threads be eliminated and even eliminate the ability to post pictures at all.

I would say I would bet that's not a majority. And if it IS, and I think this truly fits the very nature and spirit of Lit, if you don’t like threads with pictures...don't subscribe to them. Don't complain and stomp your feet because somebody else DOES enjoy them; just move along. That's the mature approach. There are threads "for lesbians" where they ask men not to post. So I don't post on them. There are categories of stories I don't find particularly appealing. So...I don't read them. It's just not that hard to live and let live. And in a thread like this, where captions and images go hand in hand, it's not logical to exclude them (legal restrictions notwithstanding). And just take a look at the popularity of the AmPics category on the Boards: Obviously, there's a lot of people who DO want it here.

I'm not going to even engage with that the way I want to; I don't want this to devolve any further. My point is that inconsistency - persistent inconsistency - has created a lot of confusion. This is supposed to be a website for the engagement of erotic thought and development; that's what has built and sustained Lit. Imagery is a part of the erotic world. Approaching the topic as if it is a crime to be stamped out is counterintuitive, at least in my opinion.

As you have said there is NO need to prolong this discussion, I stated my view and you did rightly counter it. As a Mod it is your right and I will not bitch. Yet, I believe that Section 12 Authorization of Use ( Brazzers) , refers to a commercial use of the materials ( aka piracy) NOT some Schmuck like me taking a picture and posts it somewhere for fun. This is further corroborated by the Section 20 Third Parties, where Brazzers puts in a disclaimer about being not responsible for such “ third party” used content.

And my last point, does Lit ever received a single DMCA request to remove materials? I presume not, and that is the crux of the matter.

…. And as to those who want picture threads removed? Please tell them, that such action will NOT bring more readers to their shitty stories. But will reduce traffic here on Lit forum;)
