The funny (odd not humorous) part is that no one that's been to war is particularly fond of it and those that are fond of it are quick to volunteer others to go.
Define "fond of it"

Putin and Hamas both seem to be fond of it, based on the wars they both started.

Maybe that's what you mean.

Neither Putin nor Hamas leadership are leading from the front. We know that a shit pot of Russian troops are less than pleased to be where they are. As far as Hamas fighters go, I think they may be having second thoughts now they are no longer facing unarmed women and children.

They both started the wars going on at the moment

But sure....neither led their own aggression ¯\(°_o)/¯

Yes, the people who wanted war are second guessing themselves.

Makes him sound like a sinister man, and he was. But that particular quote isn't sinister, it's common sense.

Kill the leader is core military doctrine. It's roots go back to the recorded history of warfare itself. Special Forces operators train their core of insurgents to seek out the leadership........and kill them. Snipers are trained to identify the leaders..........and kill them. This is a core tenant of warfare. Of course our congress, in it's infinite wisdom(?), passed a law prohibiting the assassination of foreign leaders. That particular law falls in the category of "I'm scared you might kill me so I'll make it against the law to kill you."

A local example of the doctrine would be that if there was a riot in your town and the mayor refused to order the police to deal with it, kill the mayor. That is not advocating anything, just an example of what is taught as SOP in every military school world wide.

I too, like one of our newer contributor's, have a close friendship with a former ARVN regional commander. We have the opportunity to compare notes from time to time and while the basic doctrines were the same there was a difference in the application.

After the right wing victories in France the left riots. After the left victory in the UK - crickets.

I think I'll reload some more.
And after the second and final round of voting in France, the French people turned back the right wing decisively. They knew the left would not have a majority, but they voted for political gridlock over installing the most right-wing government since Vichy France in WW2.

Look how unhinged the loony left reacted to killing Soleimani. They had the balls to call it an assassination.

Got my wires crossed on that one. Soleimani was the NON US citizen that Trump blew away, perfectly legit. Al-Aulaqi was the US citizen that Obama blew away without due process. Yay!!!! Obama's off the hook on that one.
