This was my last buy. An April of 1940 M1, rebuilt and unfired. Old fashioned 300 Black (the fuck) out, also known as .30-'06:

Nice.....we have an old old M1 that himself bought years ago, an old Lee-Enfield .303, and an old Mosin-Nagant (the Russians probably want to buy those back to equip their soldiers with LOL). That kick...#@&*! LOL.

Yupper, there's plenty to learn from the afghans as well as the Viet cong
LOL. My granddad on mom's side is Vietnamese, spent 10 years in the ARVN commanding a Ranger unit fighting the Viet Cong & North Vietnamese - he was an officer in the ARVN Rangers - so yeah, him and my husband have some interesting conversations. And my other granddad was a US Army Advisor for 2 tours, most of which he spent with ARVN units, so when the three of them get together, you can imagine the stories that come out.....

Speaking of reloading, I encourage everyone to learn this skill. When I'm at the bench I find myself slowing down, all of my thoughts are focused on the bench, I find the repetitive act rather " zen-full" (is my best way of describing it) . If you decide to take this hobby. Just realize you entering this at a time when the equipment and components are expensive and supplies are not always available, not like the old days when things were very robust.... Oh one more thing, if you decide to learn to reload the best way is find someone who is a very good reloader and have them mentor you. Youtube has some very good reloading videos as well .... I'll close with this, reloading is an exacting process there is no room for error, none. Mistakes can be very catastrophic......
Thx...I shall keep all that in mind. It's not something we'll rush into for sure

Is anything more American than vending machines? Person-free peddling appliances have also gotten political. In California, machines have been used to dispense marijuana; in heavily Democratic Connecticut, they've issued abortion drugs. But red states have their own ways of revolutionizing life for the masses. And in the southeast, the self-service industry has gotten a 2nd-Amendment-themed update.

Grocery stores in Alabama now have automated vending machines that dispenses ammunition. Sometimes you need milk, eggs, and you just gotta get some 9mm 115-grain jacketed hollow points. Oklahoma has now followed Alabama with American Rounds ammo vending machines installed in supermarkets. Let's hope these spread like wildfire across Red States.....

Nicely put - very nicely put. I understand the Zen bit totally. There's something nice about focusing on the few square inches in front of you and making wee things happen. I enjoyed that kind of thing a lot while refinishing these rifles over the last few months.

I used to load when I was match shooting. Well, I loaded for the .308, and there was a gunsmith who stocked match ammo for the .223. We bought Junior's ammo there and I made my own. I enjoyed doing it. I had a cheapo one-at-a-time press and made it happen, one at a time. For match purposes, I think that's best.

When I get settles into the new place, I'd like to look into a progressive press for gang-loading the bulk ammo, like the .223, and probably the ping ammo.

Grandad told us not to try to do great things, only to do small things in a great way........

Granny was 5'1" and there were 9 kids

I think I know what he was on about now ........

Totally in keeping with the notion that "Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms" should be a sign in a convenience store window.

What do you know about your M1?

I'm (kinda) working on collecting the whole set, so to speak, by manufacturer. I would also like to get a couple more M1 carbines, but probably not the whole set. There are 4 M1 makers and 10 carbine makers. I think the carbine is a pretty good gun, but the AR is considerably cheaper to shoot.

I went to school with a guy who spent 8 years in the shit in the ARVN. We used to chat. He told me one evening on break that Rambo wouldn't have lasted an hour in his jungle. I laughed. I suspected that he knew what he was talking about, unlike the Nam liar in my class. But I shared my WW1 experiences with him to let him know what I thought of his tales.

My daughters are both trained in two disciplines of martial arts, both own guns, and my youngest, due to the nature of her job has a concealed carry permit.

As a father of daughters, I fear how all men are raised, but like Malcolm X I have instilled in them the "fear the white liberal" mentality. The leftwing men are sneaky little white knights who claim to support women's rights then hold up Free Palestine signs, supporting a culture where rape is a right not a crime...just like they want it. they also support sick men hurting them in sports and walking into their locker rooms.

Meanwhile the right wants to control their body and put them back in the kitchen. "As it should be"

Women have no friends in either party, and more need to wake up to that fact.

I took the liberty of lifting this post and moving it. Good for you for teaching your young women the truth. I assume they know what a toxic male looks like - not a man, a male - there's a huge difference.

Also, this is the only forum I have seen of the ones I've looked at here that doesn't have a sticky-thread with the rules. I think I know why, but I can't prove it. This PolitBuro of "ours" is essentially Lit's Toxic Waste Dump.

I suspect that if management were aware how many of the Celebrated PB Kewl KIds shat on visitors to this forum and potentially drive posters/readers/customers away, they (management) might just do away with it entirely.

I think that the Kool-Aid drinkers would also be shocked at who gets Das Boot, too . . . .

When Laurel was here she created and encouraged the kewl kids culture and how they abused newbies and members she didn't care for.

It was beyond Karma when they all turned on her when she said she was moving all political threads from the GB to this forum. She had been attacked for other things before that, a victim of the monster she created and thought was oh, so funny.

You're right "men" and "Males" are different and there are plenty of good men out there on all sides of the political, societal, ethnic, religious, etc spectrum. Its never "all" and its never "none" when describing a group. I did the best I could to teach my girls how to recognize both the good and bad guys, and some of the things are very subtle, but can speak volumes. So far only once did one of them, my oldest, end up spending some time with the wrong type, but it didn't last, she woke up quick, and when he wasn't happy with her leaving, I enforced her decision for her. She's a capable young woman, but no need for her to get dirty. That's my job.

She met a great guy not long after that and I'm happy to have him as my son in law. He doesn't just love her, but adores her, cherishes her, as it should be. Seeing him with her puts me at ease, and that's not easily gained with me.

Man, she used to hook me up with cigarettes. She could shoot like nobody's business. Damn fine cook, too. Made breads from scratch.

Them's was the daze . . . .
My granny was the most violent quaker that ever lived.

At age 5 she proudly announced "YOU ARE LEARNING TO READ THE BIBLE, BECAUSE IF YOU CAN READ THAT YOU CAN READ ANYTHING"

That's how I learned that if I went out to work with gramps it was less painful

No, I reckon it's not.

Yes, I remember a lot of that crap. Interesting who has a banned track record and who deserves one and has none. It is her website and she gets to (mis)manage it in any way she so sees fit. And all of the spin-offs failed. And as was mentioned later, the Kool-Aid Kids get to do as they like. It might be fun to start an other side of the aisle grammar thread, but it's too much like work.

Allah knew best when I gave me a boy-child. He's grown to be a man to be emulated.

I wonder where my supposed alt went? Seems he scampered off . . . .

My grandmother was a better finish carpenter than my grandfather. Go figure. She sis encourage reading, but we had lots of choices. The Qu'ran was not among them.

I've never had an alt. You don't have the balls to say it under your name, don't say it.

KC Cummings and Lancecaster were the finest examples of who the site loved and thought was a great member of the forum, and that's all anyone needs to know.

Yep. I can add to the list, but fuck 'em.

Alt detection around here isn't what it used to be. And it used to be when people came in/signed up, they'd do some reading before they had much to say. These assholes we have now just run their gaslighting mouths saying crap that would get them their teeth handed to them if it were out in the real world.

Some pissant will be along directly to whine-n-tattle to Mommy that Wat is advocating violence.

Again . . . .

I grew up with no religion or politics. My whack job family were too worried about surviving than getting into any of that. Looking back, I'm glad because I was not indoctrinated for or against anything and could be open minded with all of it.

I've read the Bible, parts of the Qu'ran and a ton of other religious texts as well as way too much books on the occult. I don't believe in God-any of them-but if doing so helps people in their life, I don't mock it. That is for personal faith, te pushy preachy religious type and the ones who want everyone to be like them can fuck all the way off.

My mother read all the time, and always horror. In a display of seventies parenting, she tossed Salem's lot at me when I was nine and said "here, read this" as in "Leave me alone." I was a precocious reader who had been skipped up a grade at an early age, but that was....a lot. I had the Exorcist read by age 11 but of course a lot went over my head as far as the demons religious and sexual insults. but I got the gist of it.

I've suffered no ill effects from it....other than self-delusion Heh...

Its a sad lot of very impotent, I mean important, people.

What do you know about your M1?
Not a whole lot. It's been up on the wall as long as we've been together.

Oh yeah. My granddad survived 10 years of that before South Vietnam went down and he jumped on a boat and headed out to sea with my grandma and a lot of his men and their families. Anyhow, the ARVN Rangers were some of the best units around. He's a cynical old guy, and he can be...very very scary. My granddads started teaching me to shoot when I was 5, made sure I started taekwondo training back then to, 5 days a week after school, so you can imagine LOL. No shortage of ammo to practice with when I was a kid LOL. And instructors that kicked my ass

Have to say, I do enjoy the sheer insanity of the Politics Board and that it IS completely unfiltered. It's pretty funny sometimes.
Its funny, in a sad sort of way.

Its like other social media where sometimes I look at a post and think, "Wow, a real person actually said that."

Some pissant will be along directly to whine-n-tattle to Mommy that Wat is advocating violence.
LOL. I got jailed on Facebook half a dozen times for that. I mean, I ask you, is suggesting that Biden needs to be ass-fucked with a baseball bat wrapped with razor wire advocating violence? Nooooo, of course not. It's fantasy. With the SS bodyguards he was, you wouldn't be able to get that baseball bat close enough unless you were a 10 year old girl. But Facebook thought it was advocating violence! Shame on them!

So, take it off the wall and take a picture of the top rear of the receiver and send it to me and I'll look up what I can for you. It's what PMs are for.

Nam was as fucked up and any of that island hopping shit from 20 years earlier. They all have my respect.
